Has David Mark succeeded in misleading the Senate?

The present resolution by the Senate could be overturned by a law court as being strange in law and yet it could be used as an excuse by our notorious AGF Aondoakaa tomorrow as to why the FEC does not need to discuss the issue any further since it has been taken care of by th NASS.

What we have from the Senate is far from what we need. The Senate should impeach the President for gross misconduct if they wish to see an end to this crisis.

They have simply designed a crisis-within-a-crisis with this resolution.

Otherwise the FEC must begin the process to declare Yar'adua incapacitated tomorrow. Jonathan can show some leadership too.

By the way, do you swear in an acting President?

That will mean having two commander-in-chief

if the other one comes back what happens after swearing in the VP?

Senate should impeach Yar'adua so we can move forward.

The president of the F R of Nigeria is vested with immense powers, now that Jonathan is acting in that capacity i hope he uses his temporary powers to first get rid of Aondoakaa and Maduekwe before starting the process to fully see him as president. After that the constitution should be amended to make sure rubbish like this never occurs again.
Close to my heart is the FOI bill which i hope he signs into law.

That's the bottome line. It will not amount to disloyalty if Jonathan moves to tidy up this mess now.

@naijaking, When i say Jonathan should work his wand i mean in the back room. Politics doesn't have to be on the pages of newspapers you know; Jonathan as acting president can make the necessary lobbying to correct this rubbish we're in. Afterall Dora has already sacrificed herself for him so he too should take initiative.

^^
That's my point too. I hope he's working his wand behind the scene as we speak. Most importantly, I hope he is able to build his own inner circle of trusted advisers, and quickly too.

Time for Jonathan to act is now to quell this crisis

No need for double face . . . . . .Mr Jonathan must stand up for what he believe's in and act on conviction for what is right. He should show some leadership, address the Nation asking everyone to remain calm. He should now authorise a fact finding team led by Edwin Clark or General Andrew Owoye Azazi or Ufot Ekaette or anyone else he Jonathan can surely trust including in the team those who claim to be best friends of Yar'adua as well as independent professional high level medical doctors to go to Saudi Arabia to find out the truth.

If they go to Saudi Arabia and are refused access to Yar'adua, then the team can legitimately come home with the conclusion that Yar'adua is missing and the assembly can impeach him for gross misconduct, if he is found to be incapacitated the we will know and FEC can start the process under section 144 to remove Yar'adua. If he is well and responding to treatment then they can come home and say so with a letter from the President saying that he is on medical leave and we can all move on while we pray for President Yar'adua to get well soon.

If the President is too sick to sign a letter, then he is incapacitated. Its that simple

This business of displaying unwarranted loyalty in the media by Jonathan and turning around to refuse to sign documents or filling in for the President like a Vice President does is in itself gross misconduct. Leaders can get into trouble for their ACTIONS or INACTIONS.

In this case Jonathan's inaction is getting alarming and should as well get him into trouble. After 80days of power vacuum, the Vice President should begin to show some leadership or resign if he is uninterested in his job.

Tomorrow's FEC meeting is a big opportunity. He should not be decieved by the yeye resolution passed by NASS today, it amounts to nothing. He should thank the Senate for their effort to resolve the situation quickly but demand that there can be no substitute for the due process of the law to take its course. He should then allow Dora Akunyili's memo to be discussed. After which he should announce a plan to send a delegation to go on a fact finding mission in Saudi Arabia on his behalf.
