It has never been heard of anywhere in the world where the head of an anti corruption agency, is surrounded in so much controversy, political power tussle accusations and counter accusations. In Nigeria once you are appointed by the executive to head any agency, honourability and integrity is kept aside. Mr Ibrahim Magu the current chairman of the economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) can never do the job he was appointed to do perfectly with the current controversy surrounding him. The EFCC was setup to investigate financial crimes, ensure that suspects are taken to courts and present a good case for prosecution of suspects by the court. This must be done without fear or favour. But with the rejection of Magu for confirmation by the senate and the obstinate position of the executive not to drop him and pick another person, there is no way the man Magu can ever act without fear or favour, “without being sentimental and selective and dictatorial”. This to me is the main reason why the senate rejected him and not the DSS report they are brandishing.

The initial method of zero investigation of a suspect, jumping to the media to tarnish the image of certain suspects accusing and convicting them in the media, was seen by the populace as an attempt to kill opposition and dent the images of certain persons in order to prevent them from clinching any political office position in the future. Magu’s employers forgot that he hasn’t been confirmed by the senate and the same opposition they are trying to kill by all means has a large number in the senate and all those they are fighting in the media would use their men in the senate to frustrate his confirmation. Up till date the EFCC under Magu hasn’t gotten any significant conviction especially those they accuse in the media.

Members of the executive have been accused of large scale corruption e.g. Rotimi Amaechi, Babachir Lawal, Abba Kyari, etc but the EFCC did nothing about it. In the case of Babachir Lawal, the executive even had to setup a committee to determine whether he is guilty or not, he was asked to step aside. The case is almost going like every other corrupt allegation levelled against the executive. If the executive would set up a committee to investigate their own, taking away the function of the EFCC then I see no reason why the senate and judiciary shouldn’t do same to their own.

If truly Magu is an upright man as he is claimed to be, the honourable thing to do is to resign as there is absolutely no way the fight against corruption can be effective under him, he has already been compromised and found wanting by a DSS report, the same DSS report he used to ransack the houses of judges, which made even the NJC suspend the accused judges but some were later recalled as they were found innocent. Magu should be made to go through this process he subjected the judges to, let an independent panel investigate the accusations levelled against him and if found guilty he should be prosecuted. One begins to wonder why the executive hasn’t set up a panel to investigate the accusations levelled against Mr Magu. The EFCC would never go against those who supported Magu to remain as the chairman and the EFCC can never get any meaningful conviction with this jackboot, hate, sentimental, selective, crude and unintelligent approach of fighting corruption by Magu. The Executive themselves would be free from the EFCC since they are the ones championing his stay. Nigeria is a country of almost 180 million people, with this legion of humans one begins to wonder why the unnecessary insistence on one man and why this one man cannot step aside for others.

Nigeria’s greatest problem is leadership and the highest leadership position in the country is under the executive arm. If the executive does what is right, other arms would follow. The legislative and judicial arm are corrupt or under-performing because the executive is also highly corrupt and under-performing. Each arm believes none of them have the right to challenge their excesses as they are all guilty. But unfortunately and ironically the current executive sees itself as an arm without blemish and goes after other arms of government labelling them as Nigeria’s problem.

Nigeria’s greatest problem is the executive arm, not the legislature or the judiciary. The executive arm should purge itself from corruption and under-performance before trying to do same to other arms. If Nigeria has an executive arm that is sincere to the people, carrying out populist policies I see no reason why the legislative and judicial arm shouldn’t follow suit.

While I can appreciate Buhari's stubbornness on insisting on Magu, for the old boko is filled with silly pride like a puss filled wh0re of Baghdad, what I could not get to grasp on is why the manlet Osinbanjo decided to deride his elevated position as VP and reduce himself and office to a that of a legal defender of Magu by invoking retarded constitutional logic.

Was Osinbanjo even aware or present at the time Buhari selected Magu for EFCC chair? No!. Rather than start an unnecessary confrontation with the Senate on their legality to rightly reject Magu, Osinbanjo should have simply avoided the Magu controversy by playing the ostrich.

The same DSS whose security dossier was the basis at which the Senate rightly rejected Magu is what has made Osinbanjo a laughing stock just recently.

Since, Osinbanjo refused to consider the Senate's position of not accepting Magu based on a DSS report which amounted to a slap on the face to the DSS, the same DSS refused to submit security clearance for Osinbanjo's nominees into the board of the ICPC.

The foolish idiot went along without any security clearance and submitted the names to the Senate. Well guess what, all 3 of his nominees to head the anti-corruption outfit are being investigated by the same ICPC!

Can you see how this man has made a fool of himself

He is a coward, simple!

No excuses here as he was quoted over 2yrs back in March 2015 after the APC won the elections that he was ready to step into the office of the President if anything should happen to Buhari.

Well here is his chance to prove to himself and the rest of the world that he can fill the office but for where?
