Leadership is an art as well as a pragmatic way regarding governance or leading a people or organization to achieve desired goals. Nigeria, over the decades has no doubt had a lot of problem with leadership.
One of the hallmarks of good leadership is to gauge the responses of the followers and to act accordingly in a way that will be benefitial to all concerned. Right now, there is a schism between those protesting against the long abscence of the President and those supporting him that he had not breached any law. As it is, since early May, the President has spent well over 90 days abroad for treating undisclosed illness. While the constitution does not specify the the limit of days the President can spend in abscence and while he indeed transmitted power to his vice, it is becoming glaring that the burden of leadership is becoming too onerous or overwhelming for our dear President. On moral and logical ground, I therefore state unequivocally that he should resign. I know he means well for this nation. The nation however transcends anybody. He can not force himself to serve the people. Quality governance must not suffer because of one recalcitrant person. If he can not resume work, then he should resign. Now.
