The feeling, appearance and fresness of buying a brand new car can never be underemphasized. It makes plenty sense to buy a used car and not something vintage like the 504 Peugeot. We are talking about lightly used or fairly used Nigerian cars. Gone are those days when Nigerians keep using their cars to the point of no value after purchase and use. Things have changed with time due to developmental strides. According to a statistic done by Ababa group, Nigerian used cars sell more than the fairly used imported cars. This statistics could be tired to some factors which are bedeviling the country, such could be high importation duty, clearing bureaucratic bottle necks, economic tightness as well as other fringe reasons.
Why buy Nigerian used cars is a question most people are still asking themselves today. Buying a Nigerian used car is a wise thing to do because you save a huge chunk of money. Statistics show that your newly purchased car will be worth just 57% of what you paid on it. On the average after offsetting car registration bills. However, this might not be true for some cars whose prices keep going up based on its popular demand caused by the Nigerian factor that they are generally economic cars. Irrespective of the price reason, you pay less to renew the car documents and custom duty if the car has none. Renewal saves more cash than a brand new or imported used cars.
Now that the need of taxi are on the rise, most of the private firms who are into fleet business go for the option of clean Nigerian used cars. This is good business because you buy less and invest it into the system to earn more cash on the long run. Apart from saving money this is another means of investment which most youth are into now through the platform created by Uber and other taxi companies.
Fairly used Nigerian cars have high salvage value. This is because after you have used them privately, the car could be resold at a good price plus the period it has served you if you wish to upgrade the car. There are other forms of upgrade. In my line of business we have done car exchange ranging from key to key or exchange with a cash top up.
Before purchasing a lightly used Nigerian cars. There are some certain factors that need to be considered. They are as follows:
1. Know the history of the car. This will help you know alot about the car whether it is a stolen car, accidental or flooded cars.
2. Make sure that the documents belonging to the car are genuine and complete.
3. Go with your auto mechanic to ascertain the conditions of the transmission and engine system. Sometimes the body may deceive you without having a full knowledge of the engine and transmission systems. Most at times the outside of this car may not be clean. Always be bothered by the interior or the engine system. Because you may be buying a diamond in the rough. Putting the outside in other will not be a much cost for you considering the fact that the condition of our roads and traffic will always lead to damage of the exteriors. But there are places to get standard Nigerian used cars but this is a topic for another day.
4. Stand on getting a well detailed and prepared agreement between you and the seller.
