CAMPUS RUNS GIRL As l walked down the school campus,l met a girl by the name Ada crying uncontrollably,l moved towards her direction to know what was wrong with her,she broke down in tears as she narrate her ordeal. I was a very good girl when l came into the campus,l never joked with my studies and was always active on school fellowship, things change when l met my friend onyinye who was my secondary school mate, she was one of the campus big girls that hardly attend lectures and will always make her way to pass whether in cash or in kind, she happens to be my roommate, l tried to advice her but all to no avail,l started falling to her tune, when my father died in my second year in school, mummy with her little salary as a teacher could not carter for my need, things started to fall apart, hardship became a life style,l could barely afford to eat.l watched onyinye in her lavish lifestyle wearing the best cloth and enjoying life to the fullest,l watched hermade calls to big men,who immediately send lots of money to her account, l made up my mind never to remain in hardship, l want a change of life,l told onyinye my roommate, she laughed at me,mumu na now your village people leave you. It was on a Friday afternoon when onyinye informed me of a birthday party of one Chief egobute, she showed me the cloth to wear in order to look sexy.in the evening time a black Lexus 350 drove to our hostel and carried us to the party venue,as l sat down, l remember the advice my mum gave me,l remember where l was coming from,l had no choice,l was determine to leave poverty and hardship. I did not sense the danger ahead of me,l didn't listen to my mother's advice, we drove to the venue of the party,l was shock l met my course mate Jenifer, she was also in the runs girl business, she was the last person l ever expected to see there. I saw Mark my daddy's business partner, l was ashamed of myself, what shame have l brought to my family,l could see young girls in there numbers, loud music was playing when the chiefs selected the girls they want, mark moved close to me in total disappointment l could not believe my eyes, suddenly huge men on black came in and made our with the girls,l was included they took us to an uncompleted building, it was hell fire on earth,l watched as the girls were called one after the other,l heard cries and shout of distress,l could hear the sound of machete like a butcher that cuts meat,we are in the den of ritualist,l remembered my mummy and siblings,my education, l cried in bitterness,my dream of becoming a doctor, onyinye was next to be slaughtered, l heard her cries,l couldn't help, tears flowed like a river,l said my last prayer, mark came in and sneaked me out of the den of ritualist,he was a God sent that night. I could not hold my tears as Ada narrate her ordeal to me,l gave her hope to live again, l breathe confidence in her.
