Breaking: Ohaneze Expresses Support For Yorubas Over Issues Of Restructuring by MrRationalBlog(m): 8:24am On Sep 08, 2017
The Ohaneze Ndigbo has backed the call by the Yoruba elders for restructuring of the country which was emphasized again at the Yoruba Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The Punch reports that the summit which took place on Thursday, September 8 had in attendance Yoruba leaders, South-West governors, traditional leaders, lawmakers, Yoruba socio-cultural groups, professional bodies, various Yoruba youth groups and leaders of various groups from the South-East and the South-South.
Chief John Nwodo who led the south east delegation expressed support for the call for restructuring and resource control.
.
He said:“I am here with a large delegation to emphasise the Ndigbo solidarity with this occasion. What is happening today shows that democracy has begun to grow in Nigeria.
“Is it right to be ruled by a document that you are not a party to? What we are saying today is that the people of Nigeria must have a say in the way they are governed. It is not only the Yoruba that are saying it; we, the Igbo, are saying it loud and clear. Many people have tried to destroy restructuring by saying that it is a ploy by Southern Nigeria to monopolise the God-given mineral resources in the area. Those who are doing this do not love Nigeria.
“The Netherlands is the 18th richest country in the world. Its agricultural export every year comes to $100bn. The Netherlands has 34,000 square kilometres but Niger State in Nigeria has 73,000 kilometres. If Netherlands can export $100bn worth of agricultural produce, Nigeria should be able to do more in million folds.
“In a restructured Nigeria, only those who can till their land and produce food will be rich. All parts of Nigeria are endowed with agricultural resources.
“California is the largest economy in the world, yet, it is only one state in the United States. California has given birth to richest companies in the world whose founders grew from universities in California. If you give the people the power to develop themselves, they will do well.
“Education knows no boundaries, I was thought by Yoruba professors and today, I can mimic the Yoruba intellectual powers.
“I want to tell you that we support your motion for restructuring of Nigeria.”
Albert Horsfall who led the Pan Niger Delta Forum to the summit also emphasize the need for the country to be restructured.
He said:“The whole issue of restructuring depends on the control of what you or your soil produces. We in the South-South have, for several decades, provided the engine room that runs Nigeria but we are still expecting to be given the privilege to run our own affairs. That is the restructuring that we are talking about.
“The rest of us in the south speak with one voice over restructuring. We believe in one Nigeria but every country must do something and contribute something to the nation. We do not want a system called federalism but based on unitary system of government.
.
“If you go to the Niger Delta today, despite the fact that we lay the golden egg, our people are still agitating. We are not mad; we are agitating because history repeats itself.
“The issue of restructure must start with resource control. That is what we believe. We support the Yoruba motion in its entirety. The sage, Chief Awolowo is closely related in politics with my father, who was also a leader of the Action Group. We have affinity with the Yoruba and that is why we are here to speak in acknowledgment of what the Yoruba people are doing today.”
.
RationalTV..com had reported that the people and leaders of the Yoruba in the South-west, Kogi and Kwara states and the Diaspora demanded for a six-regional structure as a condition for an indivisible country.
This Day reports that the Yoruba leaders also recommended the devolution of 25 items on the Exclusive list in the 1999 Constitution, ranging from customs duties to exchange control, currency, coinage and legal tender, arms, ammunition and explosives, and citizenship, naturalisation and aliens among others.

Yoruba's are the greatest beneficiaries of One Nigeria....because all the industries, seaport are located in their region....

They dominate the oil sectors ....
The only functional international airport is in their region...

Yoruba man will be the last person that will support restructuring.... because it will negatively affect them

Can they be trusted? That is the problem.
These guys have no loyalty, no values, no definite stand. If the north offers them something, they will dump regionalism and claim they are being politically sophisticated.
They will start telling you that GEJ should have restructured when he was there and buhari was not elected for restructuring.

SE/SS should stop been fooled by these Yoruba's....

Yoruba's can never support restructuring actively because it will end up affecting them...

When other regions have put their seaport in order......who will still go back to Lagos to import goods...

When other region have mandated all international air travel should go from their regions, who will go back to Lagos

when all oil companies operating in nigerdelta, relocates to their region of operation...what business do one have to do with Lagos

when other region will be promoting goods produced in their regions and make it mandatory for purchase by residence in order to grow their economy........who will buy the goods produced in SW Nigeria....

Yoruba nation will loose seriously if restructuring comes

Keep your support oh ye developers

I'm seeing idiotic analysis from idiots but I'm not surprised

When other regions put their seaport to order, focus on when monkey forgot to realize the only one working internationally accepted and famous shipping route is in Yoruba land, by the time they fix their rubbish Yoruba would tax the hell out of their goods, unless of course if they will stop importing everything for 3 years average time it requires to maintain a port
Also in their stupidity, they forgot Yoruba people too buy container-load, truckloads, shiploads of goods, only we don't use it to toast girls or make mouth about it

Same idiot mentioned international Airport, the one of the 3 functioning and most popular airport is in Lagos, are they going to suspend all travels until they build their own airports? Other than Lagos, their bad belle won't let them go to Abuja the den of fulani hausa their archenemy , fool also thinks Yoruba don't travel out

If idiots can promote and mandate their goods for local consumption they think all Yoruba items are imported?

Friday stupidity at its peak

Yes, they will probably lose more in the long run, but since they claim to be the most patriotic Nigerians, i am sure they will sacrifice anything to maintain the stability of the country.
