Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC, has cited their inability to access Voters Register of Akwa Ibom registered voters from Independent Electoral Commission INEC, as reason for the shift of the local government elections from November 11 to December 2, 2017.

Briefing Chairmen of Political Parties yesterday at AKISIEC office, Uyo, Chairman of the commission, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak, said the shift is to allow Political Parties file their candidates in line with the 60 days notice of the electoral act.

With this development, all parties must file their candidates on or before 18 September 2017.
