The judgement which compelled Sowore to pay the sum of N4 billion to Saraki was passed on Wednesday, June 28, over series of alleged libelous stories published against Saraki on Sahara Reporters in between September and December 2015. Supporters of the Senate President alleged that the arrested thugs were sponsored by the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.

The thugs were said to have been mobilised to disrupt proceedings at the court. It was gathered the thugs, who invaded the premises of the court, were arrested by the police for fomenting trouble and unruly conducts. According to one of the arrested thugs, they were mobilised to stampede the court process.

The police has however confirmed the arrest of the thugs, and confirmed they are in their custody. About six of them are said to be cooling their feet at the police headquarters in Ilorin.

Omoyele Sowore who is the owner of Sahara Reporters on Facebook post confirm the attacked and say "Reporters attached to ChannelsTV, AIT News And CORE News were attacked and their camera confiscated by Bukola Saraki thugs in Ilorin but these TV stations are too compromised to report it"
