Six people have died, and others, mostly farmers, are missing after a canoe capsized and broke into two on the River Benue in Gassol LGA of Taraba State.

The canoe, conveying a yet to be identified number of passengers, mostly farmers from Mutum Biyu, capsized after hitting a stump in the river.
