Research shows that at least 200,000 people in the UK die prematurely each year as a result of stroke, coronary heart disease and some other illnesses that are linked to unhealthy eating and lifestyles. And many who do not die do not enjoy a painless, unrestricted and disability-free old age. In Nigeria, experts indicate that about 50-80 percent of people who have diabetes in Nigeria are unaware they have the disease until they are hit by a serious and life threatening symptoms. Research has shown that one in every three persons may have diabetes and every ten seconds one person dies from diabetes. Every ten seconds two persons develop diabetes and every ten seconds one person dies from diabetes. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death by 2030. A lot of these medical conditions though, can be prevented, managed or even cured using appropriate diets. Orthodox medicine has for decades adopted and promoted a “one-size-fits-all” approach to medicine and dieting but research dating back to the 1900s by physicians and scientists has repeatedly shown this to be wrong.
Blood group based dieting is not a fad diet or some new fashion dieting technique. Infact, the knowledge of blood group based dieting has been available since the early 1900s starting with the research and trials of scientists like Dr. Karl Landsteiner(1868-1943),who discovered the blood groups O,A,B and later AB, and for this received a Nobel Prize in medicine in the year 1930. Other scientists who have contributed to the advancement of the Blood Group Based Dieting (BGD) include William Boyd PhD (1903-1983) an American Immunochemist who discovered Lectins and studied their effects in people with different blood groups. Dr Peter D’Adamo also contributed immensely to this field of study and after many years of analysis and trials published a paper entitled “Diet, Disease and the ABO Blood Groups”, which highlighted the results of a study of blood group specific Lectins and their effects on digestion and immunity.
As of 1996, there were over one thousand published studies on the correlation between blood group and certain diseases and discoveries in membrane chemistry, tumor immunology and infections have only added to the credibility of the studies.
Although this information has long been available in the public domain, there has been very little public knowledge of these facts and that has led to a lot of persons following diet regimen that provide no form of relief to them or in certain cases worsens their pre-existing conditions. These books aim to provide the sound medical basis for Blood Group Based Dieting (BGD), and then provide information on diets for the different blood groups. The book “Know Your Food and Your Poison” provides vital information relevant to maintaining proper metabolism, the need for regular exercise, detoxification and the effects of alcohol.
A section of the book entitled “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies” is dedicated to pregnant mothers and highlights some of the causes of complications during child birth and how to avoid them, as well as providing beneficial counsel on preparing for delivery.
A quick quiz is attached to the section four of the book and it provides a simple way to find out if you have diabetes. This quick quiz will take you through a lot of the signs and symptoms that can be used to detect diabetes, this quiz should be promptly followed by a confirmatory test in an approved test center. The connection between blood group and diabetes is highlighted and the different kinds of foods necessary for fighting diabetes based on an individual’s blood group are indicated in this book.
The aim of these two books is to provide a simple pathway for attaining better health, by following an individualized dieting system. By following the diets outlined here, based on your specific blood group, you will realize an immense improvement in your general health and wellbeing within a short time.
