Write Down Your Thoughts here On The Way Forward For This Country by smlafolabi(m): 6:25pm On Mar 05, 2010
I want us to establish a peacefull revolutionary army to flush out corrupt element in our

Political system
Religion systems
Entertainment system
Economysystems

Maybe Nigeria is too big, maybe we should break. and eachh region will develop its region or we remain as one with powerfull regional political power and weak central govt.

We should embark on Rapid industrialisation to break western economy monopolies and stronghold on us

We should restructure our educational systems like that of U.S.A  or better

Re: Write Down Your Thoughts here On The Way Forward For This Country by smlafolabi(m): 6:48pm On Mar 05, 2010
You mean the jerry rawlins method. we have tired it  during major C.k. Nzeogwu coup, that evetualy led to civil war. the revolution failed because of tribal sentiment. some of the executional expecially the ones assigned to kill in lagos failed to hit their target. whereas the norther executinal hit their targets. then the north political and millitary elite interpreted it as killing of only the northern political elite, wew all know the rest of the story .it eventualy led to civil war, one of nigerial major problem is that our politics have been tribalise, I dont think we can move forward if we continue in this direction, what happen when we place tribe above merit, integrity, justice, temperence, competence, and ability. we will continue to hav e wrong political leaders

@ pres elect. go and read the peace full revolution of Nelson mandela against aphartied in south Africa or That of martin luther King against recism in United states, also Mahatma Ghandi in India. They were all a success. History has thought us that Blody revolution always fail,
Re: Write Down Your Thoughts here On The Way Forward For This Country by bgees(m): 6:48pm On Mar 05, 2010
a revolution, which should not neccessarily involve violence.

a mental revolution, we need to change the way we think, work and the way we live in Nigeria.

So is peacefull or mental revolution the first step Now? how do we go about it? how do we start?

@smlafolabi
read more books on history my friend. while MLK was going about his peaceful movement, there was a nigger called malcolm x. he was preaching violence and hatred and he was gaining momentum. the white man decided to listen to MLK bc of the fear that if MLK was snubbed Malcolm will have greater followers. the white man didnt want 22 million angry and armed people in their country

while Ghandi was preaching peace, there were violent indians who killed british soldiers occasionally. there were people who told ghandi that his movt will fail. they loved ghandi but were waiting for his movt to fail. when ghandi was going in and out of prison and violence erupted the british realised that ghandi may be their only hope of respectable exit. bc he could control the violent indians. so the british started to listen to ghandi inorder not to let the violent ones take control

mandela was peaceful too. but read more about the ANC. it was begining to get out of hand especially after mandela was put in prison. there was a violent wing of ANC too. they were destroying infrastructure and who knows, if things continued that way, they may start killing people. so the authorities decided to act fast. remember the population of indians vs british or zuluz vs afrikaans

in these examples, we have peaceful movts that were ignored until a violent wing erupted beside them and when u have a man asking you for his rights peacfully and there is an armed younger brother behind him, you better start talking to that peaceful man before his younger brother pushes him aside to do the stuff a different way. so even the peaceful people need some violent group behind them for efficiency

Re: Write Down Your Thoughts here On The Way Forward For This Country by smlafolabi(m): 7:27pm On Mar 05, 2010
@ press elect. but are they being celebrated today ? was there so called theory successfull. like you re insinuating now?your so called blody revolutionist.? Ghandi is the greatest political icon in India today( posthumoursly) there is also MLK holiday in U.S. Is there malcom X day. you cant cure evil with evil Man.
Re: Write Down Your Thoughts here On The Way Forward For This Country by smlafolabi(m): 7:41pm On Mar 05, 2010
@ pres elect. i can see your point. but was has opc or arewa or niger delta militant achieve in Nigeria. i was us to think of a way forward. if revolution begins today, will it be crippled by corruption? will you kill your uncle who is a corrupt minister. will you kill mr president even if hes from your tribe? those are the problems. I think we should implement regional govt and weak central govt. then each region can develop independently.

1. MEND (possibly working with other progressive groups) should, in a surprise coordinated multiple-target operation, detonate high explosives, at least the equivalent of one kiloton of TNT, against every oil facility in the Niger-Delta and beyond, with the objective of minimizing civilian casualties.

2. All the multinational oil companies will prepare to fold up and leave Nigeria.

3. Nigeria's oil output should come to zero and the reign of the kleptocracy will come to a screeching halt.

4. The ensuing anarchy and strife will render the government useless and the military will seize the opportunity, though not willingly - no oil and the politicians would have looted the treasury clean.

5. The US military will send marines to monitor the situation to prevent the Chinese or Russians from stepping in.

6. The confused and overwhelmed military will do all it can to prevent the break up of Nigeria by instituting martial law.

7. Under pressure from world leaders and with constrained motivation to rule a pauperized Nigeria, the military will call for a sovereign national conference (SNC).

8 The blame game will commence, and many of the culprits (all the thieves we know very well) will be blamed for the actions of MEND. They will try to escape and leave the country.

9. Attempts by the military to punish MEND by burning villages and murdering civilians will be foiled on two fronts:
(i) The Igbos, the largest ethnic group in combined SE and SS zones, will refuse to cooperate with the Nigerian military in its genocidal plans against the people of the SS.
(ii) US naval ships off the Bight of Biafra (aka Bight of Bonny) will restrict the military exercise of the Nigerian navy. The US Navy will claim her right to remain off shore on possible humanitarian grounds, should there be another crisis after the massive explosions that knocked out 99% of Nigeria's oil production.

10. It is at that SNC that the fate of Nigeria will be discussed and the nature of the government, her powers, limitations and composition deliberated.

Outside that, I see no change in Nigeria's familiar march to nothingness.

It should start from homes, schools, religious institutions(pastors and imams must stop preaching primarily about financial success, the sermon should primarily promote good morals).

The media can also play a big part, nigerian movies and music should send this message of change  from then , it can spread to the entire society.

Infrastructure
Economics
Government

First things first every corrupt and I mean completely corrupt/moral bankrupt person is either fired on the spot or given an ultimatum to shape up or ship out, governers, mayors, etc. you've go to go if you want to impede progress. government in nigeria has become the obstacle to damn near everything because there are those who promised to serve the people only to rob them blind.

consolidize all the natural resouces in the central government for a period of time until the states can reorganize, no more shell paying this town, village, and etc.  some amount and another a different amount,

infrastructure: ROADS and ELECTRICITY!!!, schools, housing, hospitals, water treatment plants, courts, jails, and other governmental buildings get top priority

You'd likely be one of those people to be shot or jailed. Lets face it, majority of Nigerians have benefited from some form of corruption consciously or unconsiously at least once in their life times. We are all giulty.

that won't change anything unless it is enforced efficiently and fairly. how would some giulty people get the punished if the Courts are also corrupt.

laws against corruption already exist, and people are still corrupt.

That is cos the people that ought to enforce the law are doing that with corruption.

True, and that is because every sector is corrupt. You guys think it is going be easy . you think we can just take a straight forward approach band solve it? introduce a law or something? Nigeria is neck-deep in corruption.

laws like the death penalty should be secondary.
