Below is my close relative's passionate message to Nigeria as regards to her special day(Independence). So read through with an open mind and avoid all manner of sensationalism and sentimentalism while dropping you comments, cos me ain't got qualms with anyone, thanks......Cuts in;
Yesterday was Nigeria independent day celebration, she is 57 years now, I don't know whether to wish her happy birthday or sad birthday; but for political correctness ,let me wish her happy birthday.
Happy birthday Nigeria, a country which;
it's citizens address with different names; some called you Naija, some called you giant of Africa and others called you zoo but I called you George Orwell's Animal farm.
Happy birthday Nigeria; A land of contrast, where the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, where a classic politician uses latest iPads which he cannot operate well while a JSS 2 student cannot afford money to buy sanitary pads.
Happy birthday to Nigeria; a country were power and intimidations are order of the day, a country that has no dialogue in it's dictionary, where the President normally threatened those who are protesting and agitating with the story of civil war and it's horrors.
Happy birthday to Nigeria; a country where everyone wants to travel or migrate to another country. The rich travel to USA and UK, the middle class travel to Dubai and China , the lower class travel to African countries and the poor travel to Lagos or any big city.
Happy birthday to Nigeria, a country that refused to grow up, in fact you are moving backward, no steady electricity, the Nitel hardly exist, post office is not working, no good roads, no portable clean water in our homes and the institutions are not working well.
Happy birthday to Nigeria, a country with blind and corrupt leaders, the fastest way to become rich is to enter politics and win an election, you can make money and settle your god father, take your children to schools abroad and loot as much money as possible, a country where their is no political ideology, ask your politicians if they are capitalists, socialists, Communists, liberals, Green, far-rights or lefts , you will be surprise that they can't give you any answer.
Happy birthday to Nigeria, a country full of tribalism, Nepotism, ethnic wars, hate ,a country where your tribe is more important than your qualifications.
Happy birthday to Nigeria; where the citizens are suffering and smiling; Where the oppressed are defending their oppressors; where the slaves are fighting for their masters; a country where most of its citizens suffer from Stockholm syndrome and country that believe more in praying for their corrupt leaders than protesting against their evil policies.
Finally , happy birthday to Nigeria; a country where the citizens accept the second best or lesser of two evils, where you will here words like this, " Peter Obi is better than Obiano, OBJ is better than Good luck, Goodluck is better than Buhari, this tribe is better than the other tribe, this tribe is worse than the other tribe".so we accept something not because it is best but rather because it is better than another thing..... between two people ,one must be better than the other, but it doesn't make the person to be qualified..after all my wife is better than me.

Thanks man...........
Noted. Not yet at my best, but the writeup was done by a relative and I felt that the message though with his permission is worth sharing on a broader forum with larger number of its members being Nigerians thus preserving our own through knowledge sharing.
