AGITATION & UPRISING; AFTERMATH OF A NATION THAT HAS FAILED HER CITIZENS.

"It is often said that when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable".

The purpose for which the nations of the world exist, is to impact thier citizens positively. Agitations either for succession or otherwise starts when the citizens have lost confidence in the state.

Nigeria is a country that creates deficiency around her citizens and this devalues them. When people are devalued, they become frustrated, and when they are frustrated, they react. It is the people's reaction we are seeing today in the form of different agitations in Nigeria that the government of the day is not able to manage.

The Nigeria government thinks that they can use coercion to surpresses insuration/agitation. They fail to realise that coercion is not a form of managing crises. Coercion surpresses crises which often than not, rears-up in other forms.

It will be more rewarding to reposition our society by committing ourselves to changing the quality of reasoning of individuals instead of using coercion. You cannot find the type of reasoning in Nigeria today in any other part of the world. You can only find our type of reasoning in less than 0.5% of drug addicts of the world's population. There is massive illiterate thinking you find in our society which weigh down a lot on our people doing things that the world no longer recognises outside Nigeria.

The way to go is collective brainstorming by engaging our minds through improved analytical, scientific, and public reasoning so that we can engage issues of constitutional reforms, deepening democracy, and the repositioning of an economy that works.

For instance, look at the debt crises ravaging our economy today; trillions of naira being owed by a society that is not productive and under-paying workers because we have not used public reasoning properly. Reports emanating from the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) today, reveals that 23 States of the Federation have exceeded their borrowing limits. We cannot get out of this debt- trap until we engage the use of proper public reasoning.

The Most demeaning things you see in Nigeria today are linked to poor public reasoning; lack of productivity, religion conflicts and all sorts of social, indeginous, and ethnic conflicts. Basic things are not being put right starting from leadership. If the government don't appreciate the foregoing and make amends, the society can never stand, let alone standing strong.

Until we become highly rational and analytical, have a probing mind, avoid dogmatism, and become persons who open our minds to other people's views and reason together and be able to conceptualise what is good for everybody, we cannot live in the kind of enviable society of our dream.

Leadership or government at all levels is not usually about what you think. It is about what you think about what the people think. It is about reconciling your views with the people's views and ensuring that at every time, the best of your interaction with the people becomes the basis of leadership or governance. This is what is missing in Nigeria today and by admission, my Ukhomunyio Community.

We fail to realise that it is the society that generates obligations from the citizens. The instincts that drives man is not the instinct of obligation but the instinct of self preservation and selflessness.

In the present day Nigeria, it is the society that throws-up it's own kind of leaders; public reasoning generates a particular kind of politics, a particular kind of political parties, a particular kind of leadership of political parties, the kind of response by the citizens, capacity of citizens to obey or disobey, cause civil disobedience, and generates the necessary crises that will lead to the resolution of issues in the country and in our various communities whether they are Sate governments, LGAs, Clans, Sub-clans, villages, and Hamlets.

If we can dedicate our intuitions to reposition Nigeria today, 75% of the people who have govern us will not near the corridor of power. Let us not waste time in analysing personalities. Let's concentrate our efforts on analysing the system that will throw-up people into the realm of leadership.

In conclusion and as a 'Management Professional', I wish to state that conflicts helps to create better societies. We must make a distinction between conflict and war. The former does not necessarily mean the later. Conflicts, agitations, civil disobedience helps to throw-up things that needs to be resolved so that when they are resolved, we have a higher form of society.
