A large number of Christian denominations chant Holy Ghost fire especially during prayer meetings. Is it really Scriptural? Who are the target of this fire? Please drop your comments backed up with Scriptures.

Many reasons we can come up with but one that readily comes to mind is, what are these people chanting holy ghost fire going to do better when they're being instructed by their so called papa, daddy G.O, etc?

In other words, these their religious leaders WHO DO NOT KNOW OR ARE FOLLOWING TRADITIONS OF MEN and still passing down traditions to members. And when you try to tell or teach these members from scriptures what they practice is wrong, they call you out and label you as if you're the bad one.

So what I have seen under heaven is, a generation who believe in what their pastor, papa, daddy G.O etc says more than sound doctrine. A generation who have invested so much in their own lies and ideology to the point that even when you put a higher truth to their face from scriptures, they're unwilling to bend their stand because it will make a fool of their investments.

Back to the topic,

There's no basis for such holy ghost fire chanting in the new testament. It's foreign to the Apostles' creed, doctrine and to the Apostolic church. I don't know where this generation picked it up from.

You're totally wrong.

You literally don't know that the Holy Spirit is also called the Holy Ghost inasmuch as the term 'spirit' is also called or classified as 'ghost'.

That said, you should simply know that the word 'spirit' refers to or depicts the word 'ghost'.

However, I would attest to the word of 'Holy Ghost fire'.

Why? Our Bible refers to God as a *Consuming Fire*. Proof? Hebrews 12:29 says
"For our God is a consuming fire".

Remember when God sent fire for the sake of Elijah to prove to the false prophet that the man-made gods made by the mere hands of mere mortals are worthless and unreliable. He also went further to condemn them. 1King18:38;
"Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench."
[you may read further]

Point is, we are told by apostle Paul to pray without ceasing[1Thessalonians5:13], and he further added that,
"be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against every wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high place."

Now, the question to be answered is this "By what means would you overcome the powers of the enemy while praying?" If it's not by the fire of the Holy Ghost, what else would devour the enemies when we go for spiritual warfare(prayer)?

And remember that when we have the Holy Spirit in us, His fire so much dwells within us which requires us to use our words of prayer to consume every principalities and powers of darkness.

Assuredly, the fire of the Holy Ghost lies within an effective words of prayer literally to to consume every wiles of the devil..

The epistles and book of Revelations are clear as to the fact that the Christian and the CHURCH are not to add to the clearly revealed word of God.

But today's Church is acting as if it knows better than the forerunners of the church. Today's church is making many believe that new "DOCTRINES" are being revealed.

As a result any "new" revelation is swallowed hook line and sinker by majority of Christians who unfortunately have become very gullible.

Some strange doctrines come up, and you ask the Christian to be like the Bereans and examine the Scripture to see if these things are there, and what you get is "who do you think you are?".

'Holy Ghost fire!' was never used in Scripture nor prescribed by it. Period!

So many "DOCTRINES OF DEMONS" have found their way into the church. The result is temporary "power" but a weakening of the church which in the LONG RUN will lead to the defeat of the church.

A question to ponder on: "When the church had its greatest impact in history what doctrines was the church teaching and preaching?"

Does Holy Ghost fire chanting really consume the devil and his cohorts? If it does, the devil should have been burnt up by now.
