Lord Lugard wanted Kaduna which was well planned in terms of layout by the British to become the capital of a unified Nigeria in 1914 because Lagos Island was small, enervating, and already populated by the Yoruba natives, but the British Home Government overruled him and made Lagos Island [not Lagos State which did not exist till 1967], the administrative capital of a unified Nigeria! 1 Like 1 Share |
