KADUNA 1913

Kaduna was founded by the British in 1913 and
became the capital of Nigeria's former Northern
Region in 1917. [3] It retained this status until 1967.
The first British governor of Northern Nigeria, Sir
Frederick Lugard, chose the present site due to its
proximity to the Lagos-Kano Railway. [4] Sir Ahmadu
Bello, the premier of Northern Nigeria (1954-1966),
was assassinated in Kaduna on January 15, 1966 in
an all Igbo military coup. This contributed to the
Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970).

Kaduna,Enugu and PH were non existent before british came!

so when enugu was founded the oyibo man went to look for igbo name to name it abi?

see how senseless people can be?

PH was a sea port. the real name of the city is Igwe ocha

Stinking hypocrisy!!!

If the ikwerres being Igbo is subject to controversy... Then the '66 coup is also subject to controversy.
In my view.. Until the Anioma are reunited with the SE, the Jan '66 coup should always be known as an SS coup

Anioma Igbos are Igbo; Ikwerres are also Igbo and have always been considered such in the past, no matter what they claim now. Don’t take what these duplicitous Igbo-haters say too seriously; their anti-Igbo paranoia causes them to fall into a deluge of contradictions undecided. Quel dommage!

.The 3 cities
established by the britain in Nigeria are Enugu, port
Harcourt and Kaduna. That is why those three cities
dont have very old districts like kano city and Ibadan
city.

1.PORT HARCOURT 1912/1913

The area that became Port Harcourt in 1912 was
before that part of the farmlands of the Diobu village
group of the Ikwerre, an Igbo sub-group (a
controversial claim). [16] The colonial administration
of Nigeria created the port to export coal from the
collieries of Enugu located 243 kilometres (151 mi)
north of Port Harcourt, [17] to which it was linked by a
railway called the Eastern Line, also built by the
British.

Nice post!

Lord Lugard wanted Kaduna which
was well planned in terms of layout by the
British to become the capital of a unified
Nigeria in 1914 because Lagos Island
was small, enervating, and already
populated by the Yoruba natives, but
the British Home Government overruled
him and made Lagos Island [not Lagos
State which did not exist till 1967],
the administrative capital of a unified
Nigeria!
