Police remain at the scene of a southeast London home Saturday, the day after charging a 25-year-old man with second degree murder after the body of a missing 26-year-old woman was discovered.

Oluwatobi Boyede of London has been charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of offering an indignity to a human body after human remains, identified by police as those of 26-year-old Josephine 'Josie' Glenn, were discovered.

Police arrived at a home on South Leaksdale Circle in the city’s southeast end Friday afternoon and arrested a man.

Neighbours said police descended on the home at 252 South Leaksdale Circle, a quiet street in the Summerside subdivision, around 3 p.m. and remained overnight.

Saturday evening, two police cars and a forensics van were still at the scene. Some lights were on in the home and the curtains were drawn.

Officers could be seen walking to and from a tarp in the backyard.

“They were in the garage all night taking photos,” said Peter Austin, who lives directly across the street from the home.

“In this neighbourhood, this is the most police cars we’ve ever seen.”

Austin was trying to get home from work Friday when he encountered the heavy police presence. He said he saw a man being taken away in handcuffs but had never seen him before in the neighbourhood.

Austin and other neighbours said a woman in her fifties lived in the home, but other people would come and go from time to time. The residents, who kept to themselves, had only moved in last year, he said.

The accused has been remanded into custody, said London police Const. Chris Loizides. The date of his next court appearance wasn't immediately available.

On Friday, five days after she was reported missing and the investigation was turned over to the major crimes unit, police received a tip about Glenn’s whereabouts.

Glenn was last seen near Clarke Road and Culver Drive in the city's east end on Oct. 22 at about 3 a.m.
