We received with uttermost dismay and bewilderment, the news making rounds that the services of our Agency, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade was employed by the State Government as alleged, to forcefully close down markets within Anambra State, especially at Onitsha where a life was said to have been lost and many others wounded.

Although we are not unaware of the political season we are currently into which breeds a lot of rumours, mudslinging and character assassination, which also has become the hallmark of opposition political parties in Anambra State, we make bold to say that there should be a limit to this unpalatable misdemeanour.

However, there was never any order by our Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, or by the MD of Ocha Brigade to engage our gallant officers in an unwholesome act as alleged by the opposition.

The officers of Ocha Brigade did not carry out activities in Onitsha and as a matter of fact, hasn’t operated in Onitsha and environs for a while now, therefore could not have done what the opposition has accused us of.

Our working Governor who is celebrated across the length and breadth of Anambra State need not force traders to endorse him; given his startling achievements and feats scored in the area of welfare of market men and women in Anambra State.

It is on record that following the recession that engulfed Nigeria earlier at the inception of the APC’s Buhari-led administration, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuodike Global), ordered the immediate halt to the payment of all levies, taxes, and terrifs paid across all markets in Anambra State, little wonder, the love and regard our traders have for him. These and many more culminated into the endorsement by traders today.

We enjoin the peace loving Anambraians, to go about their lawful activities, as no market was forced closed and no life lost or wounded, as alleged in the said publication.

Our traders under the umbrella of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), willingly held a GRAND RALLY in support of Gov. Willie Obiano’s Re-election/Celebration of Dim (Eze Igbo) Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s Birthday at Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium Onitsha.

The rally was peaceful and successful.
