For now, they should be paying 2010 and 2011. Consequent EAA will be incorporated into the salaries of the lecturers. I think the new universities should be included for the recent years. But for academic staffs who are in such universities that came in by transfer or whatever means and that have worked during the recommended years will get paid .

Any administrative/non-teaching staff who wants to earn academic allowances should go and obtain Masters and PhD. After getting a PhD, they can now apply to become a lecturer and do academic work - teaching, research, publishing journal articles, attending and organizing conferences, supervising students (bachelor, masters, PhD), invigilating exams, marking scripts, administration, etc.

Note that only 20% of the earned allowance for the period 2009-2012 was paid after the strike in 2013. Also, earned allowances are not for every academic staff so it is not something that will be part of your monthly salary. For example, if you are Head of Department for one academic session, you are entitled to 250,000 Naira as responsibility allowance. An Examination Officer in a Department will be paid 150,000 Naira for one academic session, a Dean or Director will be paid 750,000 Naira for one academic session, etc (All the allowances and amounts can be found in the ASUU-FGN 2009 Agreement). The same applies for other allowances. Most likely, the allowances will be paid in full on a yearly basis after you have completed the responsibility or in the case of supervision (MSc and PhD) - after the successful completion of the program by the student.
