Joromi, a highlife song by legendary singer,Victor Uwaifo has become a tune young Nigerian artistes make reference to. When the song was unveiled, it created a strong wave in the Nigerian music industry partly because it was rendered in a local dialect. Forty eight years later, Nigerian pop stars still find the song irresistible as they have created several versions of the song. A case in point is Simi’s Afrobeat styled Joromi and Jaywon’s Joromi remix. Speaking in an interview with TheNewGuru, the veteran musician and instrumentalist Victor Uwaifo ,said he will not discourage young artistes from remixing the song, but they need to give him credit as the composer.
