Look at the stuttgart game. After the match their coach compared messi to maradonna and described hiim as "simply the best". Messi got 2 goals in that match.

Can you read at all? the thread clearly stated thus "Messi Vs Rooney: Who Is Better For 2009/10 Season?", not who's the highest goal scoring striker this season. Being a good player does not require you score 10billion goals, if that is the criteria, then someone like Canavaro should have never won the WFOTY.

People like you are why we have never seen midfielders/defenders/goalkeepers win African footballer of the year because you only feel strikers are the genesis and revelation of football.

i know ur too dull to understand but in football the term "forward" is used to describe all attaking players wether it be a centre forward (cf) or wing forward (wf) both rooney and messi are used interchangeably in those positions,so they play the same position. bastard!

Back to the topic : Messi is a natural midfielder but because he's so good at going forward, he was drafted to play in the front just like C. Ronaldo, Messi plays in a free role and can play anywhere from the front back to the midfield and comes back to defend sometimes.

By the way, I used the word Striker in my first post but you decided to change the word to forward, we all know all midfielders are forwards but strikers are not midfielders, hope you understand that? Rooney is a striker for ManU while Messi is a midfielder (winger) for Barca.
