Sokoto Govt Explains N700m Transfered To Sultan’s Account by Ikengawo: 6:17pm On Nov 10, 2017


Sokoto State government has risen in defence of Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, following an alleged probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over the N700 million purportedly transferred into the monarch’s account. The Sultan of Sokoto The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Reporting Unit, NFIU, had allegedly flagged the account of the Chief of Staff to the Sultan of Sokoto, Kabiru Tafida, following transfer of N700 million in two tranches from the state government. However, Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Media and Public Affairs, Imam Imam, said in a statement, yesterday, that the approval of the said sum was given by the State Executive Council, SEC, on December 28, 2016.

Patience Jonathan from whose backyard we tap oil that brings in wealth into Nigerian treasury that disburses to Sokoto from where 700m Naira is given to Sultan, can be probed and property seized for being in posession of Nigerian money but not Sultan whose land adds nothing to national wealth. Grossly stupendous!
