Lol almost collapsed when I saw the price, $450million for one painting. Damn

It's no one's business how people choose to spend their money, why are some posters angry at the money spent?

People questioning why someone would pay that much for just a painting, you don't understand that these things have now become more than just art. An original painting by Da Vinci himself is currency. These are assets. The worth is in the value that the painting holds, not the painting itself. The Mona Lisa's value has been pegged at "Invaluable". That means there's no amount of money offered in the world that can buy it. And it's by the same Da Vinci that painted this one. You think he's buying it to beautify his living room? Except he lives in a highly guarded fortress and even at that he won't cos you dont want to know how many international art crime organizations that would be after that painting. Do you know how many attempts have been made to steal the Mona Lisa even in a heavily guarded museum? So the owner is not just buying a painting but also a means to store up wealth, just like people who buy large diamonds or gold and store them in bank vaults. These paintings of high value could also act as an item of power and influence. And no, they're not buying because it contains any "codes or maps".

My uncle would have used thugs or charm to silence other buyers. Then he would have gotten it for free.

He bought a house at Victoria island lagos for just 150 thousand Naira only as against the original 50 million. How he did it still remains a puzzle to me

Where's the receipt.
