TEXT: "He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius."-Acts 10:3

Vision is the ability to see those secret things that have been revealed by God, when he opens our spiritual eyes to see them, Deuteronomy 29:29. There are two kinds of vision: firstly, the earthly vision, the vision of the things about the earth; and secondly, the heavenly vision, the vision of the things about the heavens, John 3:12.

In the earthly vision, we see things about the earth. For instance, when Abram(Abraham) was on the land of Canaan, after Lot was separated from him, God told him to look from where he was standing, the four corners of the land. Abraham would not have been able to see northward, southward, eastward, and westward of the length and breadth of the land, if God did not open his spiritual eyes to see, Genesis 13:14-18.

Furthermore, when Hagar and her son Ismael was sent out of the house because her son Ismael was mocking Isaac. She and her son would have died of thirst in the wilderness of Beersheba, if God had not opened her eyes, Genesis 21:19, and she saw a well of water. This well of water has always been there, but not until her eyes was opened she was able to see it, Genesis 21:9-21.

In another development, Balaam would have been killed by the angel of the Lord, if God had not opened his eyes to see the angel who stood on his way, Numbers 22:31. When Barak sent messengers to him the first time, God also spoke to him the first time, not to go with the messengers. Balaam would have obeyed God the first time, but he came to ask God the second time. And God, sarcastically, permitted him to go. But, the angel of the Lord withstood him. And not until he saw the angel, that he realized his error, Numbers 22:1-35.

In addition, when the Syrian soldiers were sent, by their king, to capture the prophet Elisha in Dothan, they surrounded the city with many chariots and horses. The servant of Elisha would have died of fear if Elisha had not prayed that God should open his eyes. And when his eyes were opened; he saw that the mountains was full of horses and chariots of fire round about him and Elisha, 2 Kings 6:17.

Before his spiritual eyes were opened, he saw, with the natural eyes, the mountain only, but after his eyes were opened, he saw the mountain and the chariots and horses of fire. And not until God opened his eyes, he could not have seen like the prophet Elisha, 2 Kings 6:8-23.

And in the New Testament, after his resurrection, Jesus Christ, was discussing with two of his disciples on their way to a village called Emmaus. But, as they discussed with him, their spiritual eyes were closed, Luke 24:16, and they could not recognize him. But, as he sat with them to eat, he took bread, and gave to them, and their spiritual eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight, Luke 24:13-35.

There are many more examples, in the Bible, and also in our contemporary world, of the earthly vision. But, these few will suffice for now.

The second kind of vision: the heavenly vision. This is the vision about things in the heaven. In the vision of things in heaven; the vision is in, or of, the heaven. For instance, in the year that king Uzziah died, the prophet Isaiah saw the Lord. What he saw was the glory of God, John 12:41. After he had seen vision about heaven, Isaiah 6:1-7. He realized how unworthy he had been. But, this was a prophet of God, that have been prophesying before this time, Isaiah 1; 2; 3; 4; and 5.

Also, Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy elders of Israel saw the God of the Israel and even ate with him, Exodus 24:9, 10. What they saw, like the prophet Isaiah, was the glory of God, who is Jesus Christ, a man, and the express image of God, 1 Corinthians 11:7; Hebrews 1:3. For God the Father said no man can see him, and live, Exodus 33:20.

In addition, the prophet Ezekiel was another prophet that saw the vision of the things in the heaven. He was visited by God in captivity, in the land of the Chaldeans, and was carried in the spirit into heaven, Ezekiel 1:1-3. You can read full details in the book of Ezekiel 1.

The prophet Daniel also saw vision of the things in heaven, Daniel 7:1-14. He saw the encounter between the prince of Persia and prince Michael, the arch angel, Daniel 10:1-13. Also details of the vision Daniel saw can be read in the book of Daniel 7; 8; 9; 10; 11; and 12.

The apostle Paul also saw vision of the things of heaven. He heard unspeakable words, which is not lawful for a man to utter. And because of these visions and revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to him, a messenger of Satan to keep him humble, 2 Corinthians 12:1-7.

And finally, the apostle John was caught up in the spirit, and he saw visions of, not only the things in heaven, but also of things to come, and wrote the book of Revelation, Revelation 4:1; 2; 10:4.

Apart from the things God had revealed in the Bible, and in our contemporary world. There are still many more things on earth, and in heaven that have been revealed, but we are yet to see them. And we can only see them, whenever our spiritual eyes are owned by God. Keep believing, one day your spiritual eyes shall be opened!
