THE ANAMBRA ELECTION A LESSON TO APC NATIONAL AND THEIR VARIOUS STATES...

By James Kalu

The Anambra election remains an eye opener to most powerful politicians in Nigeria especially the APC lead Federal and State Governments. Yes APC had a golden opportunity to sack Willie Obiano buh choice of candidate and the committee incharge of that election was their major set back. History has it that anything can happen at party Primaries mostly because of influence either from some powerful individuals as it's usually a game of highest bidder which some heavyweights can easily hijack and frustrate the emergence of a credible candidate within the party.

The south east geopolitical zone keeps misfiring at all times from who takes over power and that has been one of the major set back in terms of development in the region. Lagos state and few other States like Cross river, Oyo, Akwa Ibom are doing pretty well today courtesy of continuity those that succeeded their predecessors queued into a vision earlier planned to develop their various states. For me Consultations remains the best way to produce a credible candidate at party levels for a better representation in an election to avoid protest vote against an anointed candidate

Again lessons from most powerful men around the world even in the Bible has always been over confidence and pride, they take decisions and implement it without consulting anyone. The likes of Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi etc all ended up loosing power even when they were so powerful and were apprehended like "Okuko" due to over confidence. The story of pharaoh concludes it because God hardened the heart of Pharaoh that His will may come to pass. Leaders must continually check if their decisions are God's plan for His people rather than going against the will of God and the masses to avoid a catastrophic disgrace.

It is also very common for some party heavyweights to overlook those that helped them to win elections talking about the nobody's and none stakeholders as always tagged after every election probably because of their romance with elites that never supported them. If APC must extend their hands to welcome those who never believed in the party from onset, they must not forget the field marshals who fought for them when they had nothing. Core party loyalist and founders must not be relegated while responsibilities are handed over to new comers who are known to be failures in their previous party platforms.
