ABUJA – The media adviser to Nigeria’s immediate past President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Mr.Ikechukwu Eze has responded to a statement credited to Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima, accusing the ex-President of bad governance and poor choices, dismissing the governor’s claims as parochial and jaundiced.

In a statement issued on Friday, Eze debunked the allegations of poor governance and cited Jonathan’s key achievements which he said were yet to be matched. He further challenged Shettima to speak up on the roles he played in the kidnap of the Chibok school girls, arguing that it goes beyond the dismissive claim that “Jonathan thought I kidnapped the Chibok girls.” The statement reads: “He should be able to tell us if it was Jonathan’s poor choices that led the governor to expose students of Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok to avoidable danger, in total disregard of a Federal Government directive to the governors in the three states most affected by Boko Haram to relocate their students writing the West African School Certificate Examinations to safe zones.”

The statement further disclaimed the book entitled “On a Platter of Gold- How Jonathan won and lost Nigeria” authored by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as sore grapes and full of lies and gossip.

The total fault lies with Jonathan because when he declared state of emergency in those states affected by Boko Haram, he ought to have removed the state governors just like Obasanjo did with Ekiti and Plateau states during his time. If Jonathan had done this, all these replies from his camp wouldn't have been needed.

Gej initially ordered a state of emergency, I was in Gwarinpa when about 5 state Governors came into town to plead with Gej not to call for a state of emergency in the 3 states affected,Niger state Governor spearheaded the delegation, the question should be why did Shettima after all the advise he got from both the federal govt and waec against writing exams in those areas still go ahead to send those girls to chibok,why didn't he provide the necessary security he promised and why didn't he disclose the incident to the President Gej until after 16 days Why did he wait that long?we all can sit and blame Gej but I tell you when you get there you will know that its no child's play,you can see what Buhari is going through,there are some things that the ordinary Nigerian will never know,watch Shettima keep shut soon, they will soon call him to order.

one thing I've observed about Nigerians is their insolent attitude towards getting the right information, Gej wanted a state of emergency about 5 govs came to abj to beg him because they know if they were removed the book haram would have ended ,asides that they won't receive their security votes anymore,they were already throwing up ethnic and religious sentiments against Gej at that time before he backtracked and downgraded the state of emergency, with all the advise that was given to shettima not to allow the exams hold by the Federal govt and waec he still went ahead promising to provide enough security, why didn't he call Gej immediately those girls were abducted he waited for 16 days that was why the initial reaction was that it was a lie.There's more to it all but time will definitely tell.
