Renegades Attempt To Takeover Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo Leadership by Irukkanews: 5:16pm On Dec 04, 2017
A bunch of renegades led by Chief Leonard Okafor, AKA Oba Ojoto, recently made a failed attempt to takeover over the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State chapter by organizing a kangaroo election. The purported election which saw the emergence of Leonard Okafor as president and Chief Uzor Vitson, former chairman of Odun Ade building materials association as deputy president has however been voided by the National Executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Enugu

Reacting to the purported election, the immediate past secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Barr. Chibuzo Azubuike said that it an affront on the national leadership of Ohanaeze who had advised that they would be the one to conduct the election into the offices of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State. According to him, the peace and reconciliation committee that was headed to mediate in the crisis in Ohanaeze Ndigbo which was headed by the National Deputy president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Hilary Opara had advised that after the expiration of the current executive of Ohanaeze Lagos State, the national body would set up an election committee.

However, he said Chief Leonard Okafor and his partners in crime, organized a charade which they described as election and give themselves positions as executive of Ohanaeze, Lagos State. He said that he is happy that the national leadership of Ohanaeze had rejected the election, adding that those behind the purported election should be sanctioned for insubordination.

"My position is in tandem with that of the National body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Tho people that said that they conducted election into the executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos state are fraudsters whose stock in trade is using the organization to negotiate for money from politicians. They know that they cannot stand a chance in a credible election, that is why they had to do a kangaroo one just to cause confusion. But I want to appeal to Ndigbo to remain calm. The so called election has been voided by our parent body.

It was a waste of time and money. When the national executive of Ohanaeze is ready, they would with their own hand set up an electoral committee that would conduct election. According to the bye law of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State, for any election to be credible, the national executive must supervise it and in this case, nothing like that happened.

Lagos Ibo has a swaga and pride he uses to intimidate other Ibos.....just saying he lives in Lagos alone is enough, others go submit to am. Then let him open mouth and speak Yoruba...girls left and right will start offering themselves to him. Lagos is power! grin grin

Good afternoon all,

Personally, the above article is an embarasment to many core Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Lagos State. Why is it that the state is always made to be in crisis pre and during general elections in Nigeria?

The National body is not helping matter.

If State elections are made to be supervise by them, then i asked are they not aware that the tenure of Chief Fabian Onwughalu led Lagos Executive are to be due by November ending? Are they not informed?, Didn't National body called the out going Chief Fabian Onwughalu led Lagos State Executives and Contestants to Enugu for a meeting? What was the out come of that meeting at Enugu? Any breach of it?

I thought the right thing our National Body should have done is to address the state chapter, send out circular to the LGA's, LCDA's and zones/unite on reasons the said election was cancelled rather than rushing to the Press.

As a vice Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo from a zone/unit in one of the LGAs in Lagos State,to me, the past Lagos State President is the person that should be have sanctioned if he has gone contrary to the state or National body's constitution on election.

Chief Leo Okoafore(Oba Ojoto) that is begin cajoled in the above article campaigned across all the LCDAs and LGAs. He was not imposed on us and National Body should not impose on us any person. If election is conducted hundred times in Lagos state chapter, he will wine hundred times unless he declined

My advice to him Chief Leo Okoafre(Oba Ojoto) is that he should keep calm, don't engage in any court case or litigation of any kind.

National Body should please trade with caution and guide all Ndi Igbo as a father.

Thanks and God Bless

Ohanaeze Nma Nma Nu!!! Otu olu!!!!
