The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has disclosed its plans to field a presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general election.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, who dropped the hint in Awka, in a press briefing, revealed that the Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, was top in the party’s consideration for the ticket. He said the party would not make the mistakes of the past where it did not present any presidential candidates in past elections.

“Although we have not zoned our presidential candidate to any part of the country, but since APGA is seen as a political party with Igbo interest, it’s natural that we may look for a presidential candidate within.

“The executive governor of Anambra has distinguished himself as a great party man with great achievements; so he is one of our best for the 2019 presidential race. But one thing is clear, we must field a presidential candidate in 2019. We won’t make the mistake of the past,” he stated.

Reacting on the Anambra Central Senatorial district rerun election, Obi-Okoye, whoa legal practitioner, said there were no longer any legal impediments stopping the poll.

He asked the people of the area to come en masse for the poll slated for January 13 by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Reviewing the Anambra November 18 poll, Obi-Okoye said the people of the state voted for achievement and APGA as an identity.

An Apga presidential candidate would help them win all the Senatorial seats and House of rep in South East, the adopting of PDP presidential candidate has always be their undoing cos both elections are held same day and same ballot paper.

It makes sense for APGA to continue to field candidates in all elections to retain its core base/supporters. Anything apart from that will eventually kill it.

It's the same way Tinubu/AD carried on even when they had only Lagos. Result of that perseverance by the Jagaban is what gave birth to ACN and APC today. The more reason Tinubu remains the best politician in the whole South if not Nigeria.

APGA does not need a "presidential aspirant" for now. It's an idea from APC devils to destroy the party.

It is a waste of resources and distraction from the goals of the party.

The party should first pursue it's stated and attainable goal of winning gubernatorial and state houses of assembly elections in the SE & SS.

APGA may be magnanimous to APC by not endorsing the PDP presidential aspirant. Let the best man win

Enemy of progress. If lesser parties like LP, ADC, KOWA and others regularly contest Presidential elections every 4 years, why shouldn't APGA?

I am glad many people already know this type of advise can only come from the APC devilish camp.

I hope Obiano or any APGA person does not fall for such disastrous vain glory.

Keep deceiving yourself. Obiano for President 2019 is already a concluded matter. APGA will no longer play second fiddle.

Nwannem, it is true. Obiano will run for President in 2019. It is permitted by the electoral law. He doesn't have to resign as governor to do that. So if he loses, he continues as governor. He wants to give all APGA candidates in other elective positions a rallying figure-head and inspiration to lead them to victory in their various states.
