Open Letter To Mtn by bodrene: 6:23pm On Dec 21, 2017
I called MTN contact centre (180) in the morning of 11/12/2017 to request that they block my line (08069392047) because the phone was stolen on 09/11/2017. However, the agent I spoke with advised me against blocking the line saying I should do a SIM swap because if I block the line, it will take time to unblock after doing the SIM swap

Based on the advice, I went to MTN office on Adeola Odeku at 4pm on 11/12/2017 to apply for a SIM swap after which I was told it had been done. I went home but still could not make use of the line.

I called MTN contact centre severally on 11/12/2017 telling them that the SIM swap was still not working that I could not use my line. All they said was that I should wait for 24hours for the Infotech team to look into it

Between 11/12/2017 morning when I was given the advice and the when I went for the swap, over N200, 000.00 was moved from my account

Furthermore, to my greatest surprise, I discovered that between 4:30pm on 11/12/2017 when I applied for the SIM swap and 7:50am on 12/12/2017, over N200,000.00 extra had been moved from my bank account in the form of airtime purchases and recharge cards purchases

Based on the above, I hereby request outright return of the funds that left my account as a result of the wrong advice by the MTN staff and the delay in effecting the swap thereby giving the criminals more time to move funds

In total, all the deductions done on 3 of my bank account between 11/12/2017 and 12/12/2017, I lost over N800,000.00

I have sent an official letter to their company via their Aromire office which was duly acknowledged on 13/12/2017. However, my money has not been returned despite several follow up calls and email and I have been unable to meet up with pressing commitments considering the festive season
