Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said yesterday, that Bishop of Enugu, Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, is a member of a political party.

Okorocha through a release to newsmen in Owerri, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, was apparently reacting to a statement credited to the Bishop, accusing Okorocha’s administration of wasteful spending of state resources.


Chukwuma had recently asked President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently call Okorocha to order for wasting millions of naira on erecting statues.

Reacting to the cleric’s speech, Okorocha claimed Chukwuma was being used by his politicians enemies to rubbish him.

According to the release, “We have read in the media and indeed, with reservation statements credited to the Bishop of Enugu Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma accusing Governor Rochas Okorocha of wasteful spending of state fund and maltreating workers and pensioners. He then called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the governor to order.

“Honestly, we do not find it easy reacting to claims by notable men of God like Bishop Chukwuma, but in this instant case, the Bishop had spoken not only as a politician but as a card-carrying member of a political party and not as a Bishop.


“Reason being that politicians are most of the times associated with blackmail, propaganda and marketing of falsehood, but ordained ministers of God are believed to be agents of truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

“Governor Rochas Okorocha’s achievements as governor in less than seven years have exceeded or superceeded the achievements of all the administrations before him since 1976 when the state was created, put together.”

Bishop chukwuma should respect his calling and not get involved in politics. Owelle is not just anybody that he can think he can rubbish anyhow. He should stop toiling with those that God has shown favour.

Bishop Chukwuma is certaintly a card carrying PDP member who's just obsessed with APC being in power in Imo; he's also probably under the payroll of Ekweremmadu. This was proven about 2 years ago when he vehemently attacked Rochas of being anti-Igbo and threatened to join IPOB protests simply because Rochas wished Senator Uwajumogu (Imo APC) replaces Ekweremmadu (Enugu PDP) as deputy senate president. How on earth can an Igbo senator (apc) replacing another Igbo senator (pdp) be termed anti-Igbo?
