ALATISHE

Once upon a time, there was a man called Alatishe, he was very religious and God fearing but he was blind and at the same time impotent.

He so much believed in God and continued in his religious way.

There was a day, Alatishe was praying his daily prayer when he suddenly noticed that something ran up his testicles, but he ignored it and continue his prayer.
Minutes later, he noticed a flap on his face, don't forget he's a blind man. He queried to know who that is. The hawk answered in affirmative that it's the one and inquired to know that something ran up his trouser. The hawk promised to make him see if he can help released the fugitive up his trouser. On hearing this, Alatishe inquired to know who is down there and it was a rat trying to escape the death wrath of the hawk.
The rat also promised to heal the impotency if Alatishe can help ward off the predator.

Alatishe turn to the hawk and inquire on the need to kill the rat and it responded of a great hunger ravaging it's colony. Alatishe asked if it won't mind alternative in which he nodded in affirmative. He went into his compound and fetch three newly hatched chick in replace of the rat.

The hawk makes him see again and the rat also heal the impotency. This is why *Yoruba* do say that
_Alatishe lo ma mo atishe ara re_

So many people don't know about this story behind that popular saying actually.
