BAKU - With about 1.6 billion adherents, Islam is the second largest religion on Earth. Yet, its followers represent less than one percent of the world’s scientists. Only a handful of people from Muslim-majority countries have won Nobel Prizes in science.

However, up until the Mongol siege of Baghdad in 1258, Islamic science was the most advanced in the world. In comparison with the past, the modern disparity is staggering. Thus, to understand the present-day lack of scientific accomplishments, we must explore the past. In this instalment of a new series, we will go over the rise and decline of Islamic attitudes towards science.

There is no way science can thrive under Islamic sterness.

The full capacity of science can never be realised under certain conditions

I agree their religiosity and lack of trade killed the scientific advances back then post mogul invasion. Today the big issue is political instability and religiosity.

Islam made the Islamic world illiterate. The dogma of Islam is anti - progressive. Don't be quick to curse. All the glories of Egyptian, Babylonian, Medo - Persian empires have be destroyed by Islam and its propagation. Today, most contributions from these areas are strangers to them.

Where is Egypt now in Chemistry and Mathematics? Yet embalmment and trigonometry started from there. Where is Iran in modern medicine considering their earlier contributions? Where are the great administrative acumen used by Nebuchadnezzar, Xerxes, Aterxexes of glorious history.. Islamic countries have not known what colour peace is wearing for a long time.

Cause of tension? Religious belief. Today, they of such areas do not have peace of mind suitable for research. War mongers would not allow them. Islam or nothing is their philosophy.
Even here in Nigeria, the sections not giving to mind development is Islamic north.

If today, Borno is to have peace, when will they catch up with the rest?

The struggle for recognition in Islamic world today is terrorism which clearly shows their inability to complete in evolving world order.

Islam might have started some science field ahead of others but the fact that other came up with inspiring works and even Islamic nations are adopting it instead of theirs speaks volume of the inferiority of the Islamic works. As advanced as tech is we should know by now the benefits of donkey urine for example and not just a blind cult-like followership people just hold on to.
Another is Pig, if pigs are dirty, how exactly are modern pigs dirty also?
