Ambode welcomes 2018 babies with gifts, advises mothers medical routines

In a spirit of ushering in new year and part of Lagos State ways of putting smiles on families’ faces, the Lagos State Governor’s wife, Bolanle Ambode, has paid special recognition to arrival of babies, including those of which were delivered first day of 2018, with presentation of various gifts to the newborns.

Ambode indicated that like the new year, the birth of a new baby brings hope, and such were reasons adequate care must be accorded newborns.

According to her, arrival of a new born generally symbolizes passing the baton to the next generation and Nigeria culture as in many others, a new baby is a messenger of hope, indicating good fortune for the family and society.

Speaking while presenting gifts to first babies of the year at three General Hospitals in the State, the first lady underscored the importance of routine immunization and post-natal care for the survival and growth of newborns, saying it was important for nursing mothers to pay greater attention to the health of their children.
