Are they oil producing is the question, give us stats of their production and consumption. We are all here to learn
well google should be able to clear that.

I could say south east is oil producing region in nigeria, but in what quantity? Can they sustain themselves with the oil?

PMS price affect everything in Nigeria, unlike those countries you mentioned.
Can you tell that an increase in price of PMS in US,UK,will affect the price of goods n services?
AGO(diesel determines price of goods n services in those countries.
Those countries have steady power supply,so no need to depend on PMS to fuel their generators
Those countries currencies are stronger than Naira

Animals! You now realize that petrol is relatively cheap in Nigeria but GEJ was almost lynched when he tried to increase the price to 97 Naira.

Perfect answer to the dilemma we are in as we speak, another thing you should know is that continued subsidising of our petrol consumption will cause a depletion of our foreign reserves and nobody wants that.
We are indeed in a dilemma

you are right

Comparing the value of the naira to the dollar then and now vis-a-vis the price of a liter of petrol then and now, you'd be surprised that a liter at 97 naira then is more expensive than 145 or 180 naira now. Just saying please but always have it at the back of your mind that the exchange rate matters since we import petrol, unfortunately sad.

we are in a confused situation.
So unfortunate and the only hope is the quick refurbishing of our refineries which will take time, infact perilous times ahead.
We want the price of oil to go up so as to shore up our depleted foreign reserve and we want it low at the same time because we import refined products

The quality of their petrol is higher than our own, we don't use same quality of fuel as UAE. This I learnt when I was there last August. They have zero tolerance for pollution hence the quality of petrol. Nigerians spend so much to buy the lowest quality of petrol. They should stop pretending that they are doing a fantastic job with the kind of Petrol we import plus the stupid subsidy we pay.

So you can come to this conclusion anyway no problem
life2017:

http://www.businessdayonline.com/oil-producing-saudi-arabia-uae-raise-fuel-price-nigeria-digs-subsidies/

Additional comments:
Average price of fuel in United state as at January 2018 is $2.52 per US gallon (3.785 liters)
Converting to naira, price of fuel is 203 naira per liter in the united states.

Uk sell fuel at 1.2 pounds (500 naira) per liter

Note: United states produce 9.9million barrels of oil per day
Saudi Arabia produced about 10million barrels of oil per day.
UK produce 1 million liter per day
Nigeria struggle to produce average of 1.8 million per day (Nigeria potential is 2.3million barrels, but don't produce it on the average due to millitants and bunkering activities)

United states, UK and Saudi Arabia refine all their oil in their countries.
Nigeria import almost all the fuel we consume.

Why should fuel be cheaper in Nigeria?

for those who says fuel should be cheap in Nigeria because Nigeria is poorer than Saudi and UAE, they should also know that poorer countries than Nigeria like Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic sell fuel at much more expensive price of around 300naira to 400 naira per liter.

For those that will say Ghana, benin republic dont have crude oil, Angola produce the same quatity of crude oil as Nigeria, fuel price is 177Kwanza(293 naira) in Angola

This article is incomplete. undecided They should compare monthly salaries, or how much workers earn per hour in each of these countries, and place it side by side, with how much they spend on fuel. Then the whole report will make sense! angry

I love this question! Someone should just plot a graph of the minimum national wage in each of these countries, and insert the cost of fuel along with it. I am sure the results would be interesting! cheesy

thats the main issue.but if we allow marketers to manage things and put no laws on them then prices will skyrocket even if nigerians dont earn that much like western nations.if we loose this fight against marketers then good night nigeria.

dont forget oil fuel price influence other products too.

Just siddon dey look. undecided This is always the same argument they have always used, each time they want to increase fuel prices in Nigeria. IBB used it, OBJ did the same, GEJ copied them. And it is now PMB's turn.... undecided The spin doctors will always tell you why fuel price in Nigeria is much lower than other countries, and how other nations pay such a high amount for fuel. They will never tell you the other side of the story, about how Nigerians earn way below their counterparts in other countries, and how our transport system is heavily inferior to those of other nations, and totally dependent on road travel powered by such fuel, which is why inflation hits the roof, each time fuel prices take a hike! sad

democracy is a stvpid system.china wouldnt have come this far with democracy.

they keep opening ministries like a church and nothing is still done.and those that they hire into this ministries are family members.

the igbos are not wrong for complaining.but they are playing into the games of the cabals too.their are igbo cabals in this system too.

If you want to know what happened to the surplus money Gej made from the excess crude oil money here is it - subsidy. If crude oil was 110 dollars and he kept pump price at 87 naira when is difficult pegging it on 145 naira at 67 dollars, it is clear he paid subsidy thru his nose to keep nigerians comfortable. No wonder he said when he is gone we will miss him
