Lagos Beams Attention On Tax Defaulters, ‘Sues’ AY And Davido
The Lagos State Government has focused its attention on high-profile tax defaulters in the state with the aim to ensure high level of compliance with its tax laws.


This is just as the state government has reportedly sued entertainers Davido and Ayo Makun, better known as AY, for tax evasion, as the duo are accused of evading tax despite high earnings from their business.



A court paper, seen by The Punch on Saturday, indicated that the state government had dragged the duo before the court for alleged tax evasion.


The news outlet disclosed that while Davido was charged before a Lagos high court in July 2017 and may risk a jail term if convicted AY was also charged to court in 2016 for failing to file his tax returns.

What reasonable thing will the govt do with the tax money after collecting it than to steal it. When Aregbesola came into power in Osun state, he was running a tax free govt and everyone was applauding him, now he's has plunged the state into debt but he's ready to tax even a dead man(too late for the state). Good one for Lagos state(not too late for them). If we don't want to be called shithole country, then we must all play our roles. As for the 30 billion naira Davido, it is very easy since he made 500million naira from last tour, FIRS should do the needful on the 500M. Next time he go learn. Most of the people that attended their events and shows are tax payers but they decided to evade. They should be forced to pay it in arrears.

We wen dey earn N50,000 dey pay tax from our small salaries. These billionaires no dey pay. And they are the ones who criticize the government most and organise protests. This is unfair to us doing 9 till 5 jobs. We should raise this awareness and make sure the tax man go after all if them. This is why they can live abroad even though they have the means to. They all run back to Nigeria where everything goes.
