if you are ignorant about smtn, best u keep calm than exposing its depth. its like having a bad breath. the fact that u are not a physician(MD) doesnt mean you arnt a doctor. there are many professions that award you doctorate without u having an MBBS. Theres DDS. BDS. pharmD. DPT. PhD, and in his case O.D( doctor of optometry) Be informed!

that wouldnt b an optometrist. optometrist re professionals nd hv a regulatory body. an optometrist in nigeria would nt carry out a cataract surg on a patient but refer to an ophthalmologist for that. a model employed in gambia to eliminate blindness caused by cataract (as there wz shortage of ophthalmologist) was to train some non health personnel whoz job is to do cataract extraction nd d model turned out effective# puttin d pple first bfr professional ego# ...all i c in d nigerian health setting is needless ego frm d various health disciplines....one wanting to outdo d other nd claiming superiority.....#nigerian health workers needs a re orientation on wht health care is abt

This back and forth is really pointless. The gentleman is a Doctor of Optometry. He is not a Medical Doctor. He may choose to affix the Dr title to his name, that's his prerogative.

His problems would start when he decides to pass himself off as a Medical Doctor. Practicing beyond the scope of his training in minor and a few major ophthalmic illnesses and conditions would make him a quack of the most dangerous kind.

An Optometrist is not to be confused with an Ophthalmologist. The latter may well practice as a general practitioner of sorts, besides his specialist training in Ophthalmic conditions of all types and severity, as his basic training is in Medicine and Surgery.

In summary, an Optometrist is a Dr, just as an industrial chemist with a PhD may choose to bear a Dr. title. However neither are medical doctors, and should never pass themselves off as such.

To start with, Optometry is a six years serious university programme with extra one year internship before NYSC.
Optometrist graduate with OD certificate ( Doctor of Optometry)
Secondly Teaching is a profession.
You must not comment on every Topic.

Young man, lemme make it clear to you, just incase you forgot how our education habitat works.
You wanna be a doctor here, get into a recognized uni and read MBBS or BDS. Anything outside that, you're on your own.
Of course there are doctors in other fields. But a medical doctor, no be here.
Sick patients go to the hospital looking for a medical doctor to see, not some lab technician or warever doc of whatever they call demselves.

If you want to treat sick people, simply put medicine and surgery in your jamb form.
Put your head down and pay the price.
Then come out as the certified professional capable of treating people.
Sick people come to you for possible solutions to their problems.
If a health care team, the medical doctor remains the leader.
Of course health care is diverse, considering the myriads of man's life and his illnesses, but the doctor remains the go to guy.
I've never seen anyone coming to the hosp to look for lab tech or sumfin.
