With the way things are currently in the country all thanks to bubu's change it will be difficult to save 10 k frm ur 19800 montly. There is the cost of transport which is expensive,he will need to buy food, wat of monthly phone subscription nko? He will need clothes apart from his corper fatigues. Hmm 9800 won't even last a week not to talk of a month. If na lagos dem post am dat will be double gbese cos everything in lagos is hell expensive as i heard. Most of the corpers i know serving in lagos many of dem na their papa house or uncle house dem dey.if as a corper u staying alone in lagos with ur 19800 dat is suicide and 9800 naira in a place like lagos dat is double suicide.

my brodas, im a corper and i must tell u that to save even 5k nd pay ur tithe is not always possible even if you staying in family house cos im staying in family house... expenses alone shows that if you ar not careful u wont be able to pay tithe... everythin in the economy is super expensive nd fuel price is nothing to compare to.. i swear, they have to increase that minimum salary to at 30k nd by then corpers will b able to save 10k... :-

If you are serving in Abuja and you have to move from Kubwa axis to Area 1 everyday, you will know that 19k is just your transport fare.

Or if you are in Lagos and you have to move from somewhere in Ajah to Surulere everyday, you will know what's up.

And for your info, it's only few corp members that are privileged to live near their PPA's

The only people who can attempt to save are those serving in rural areas or low cost towns in the middle belt and core north

Honestly, i find it difficult to manage 30k in a month. I don't live extravagantly

My ppa pays me 5k plus NYSC #19800. I spend only the 5k per month and save the compete allowee. It boils down to discipline. I used my first two allowance to buy a bag of rice plus other foodstuffs that would last a year. Let me break down how I spend my 5k:
1k for each week of the month
For each week -
#160 for bag of water
#500 for soup ( Just meat and vegetables, I have all the ingredients you can think of including garri).
The remaining part of the 1k goes for miscellaneous.
For the rest part of the week, I'll cook rice, spaghetti and beans.
Then move over to the next week.
I only ate in a restaurant the first week I got to my ppa.

I received my allowee last 3 days. Right now it is finished.

Am a Corp member serving in warri,delta state.from my hostel to my PPA,I spend 280 every day ×5days=1400×4weeks=5600. Feeding I spend 300 daily ×7=2100×30days=6300. Now add the cost of my transportation and cost of feeding together which is,5600+6300=#11900 excluding other petty petty things oooo like, recharge card,bathing soap,tooth paste and other things.to save #10,000 is not easy only if you have other means of income

Even if you live in a free accommodation with no need for transport..... food + airtime + data + miscellaneous spendings will never cover for N9800 in this buhari economy

9775 I got while serving is more valuable that the 19800 being paid now. Buhari is the cause.

True. The north has low living expense compared to some cities in the south. If your PPA gives you accomodation close to it, give thanks.

I'm serving in Baissa, Kurmi LGA, Taraba State and trust me you can save 10k but you better have extra source of income like home lessons or extra ppa. I've been saving since July '17 amd piggy bank has been helping me in doing so.

How a lady we served together managed to save #131, 000 remained mystery.
I got to know later through her roommate that, the lady would take pap/kunu in the morning, afternoon and night, without kose(bean cake nor milk) ��...
Me I can't kill myself o, if someone should kick the bucket today, na the money I save

I'm a serving corp member right now in Ogun state..my PPA (gateway polytechnic) pays 10k, plus my Nysc allawee of 19.8k, total of 29800 per month..I strictly save 12k every month comfortably.. I stay in NCCF lodge by the way, so free accommodation..

What work 4 x doesnt 4 y. Kopa like me can easily save even beyond 10k despite d Bleep that i dont have another source

I started saving from the same time as you and I've bought a laptop for 70k plus almost 100k extra savings.
