THINKING WITH THE PEOPLE OF ETHIOPE: REFUTING INCOMPETENCE

In about a year from now, everyone in Nigeria would be chocked with questions and reactionary arguments relating to elections, political parties, candidates, choices, and vote counts. 2018 would be crucial year politically for some people and some others, a prolongation of existing leadership structures. For those who would find it decisive, it would present an opportunity to make right palpable blunders in leadership choices in the last few years; or consolidate the improvements in democratic strides. It is the year many political parties would elect their flag-bearers in accordance with the dual responsibilities to their internal party philosophy and the people they intend to lead. And as the prospective leaders begin the contest by declaring their interest, the question of potency must be matched with the question of intention, while at the same time, enduring the awareness of the present situation.

Making the acknowledged intention of the candidates as the main criterion for influencing who should pass as a quality candidate has accounted for the shocking number of people who have made a mess of leadership. The awareness of the current situation is quite unadorned when you gain inside knowledge of what has been redefined as the qualification of a competent and purposeful leader.

If you ask a large section of the people of Ethiope Federal Constituency in Delta state if their once-thought potent representative with a good intention is doing their expected bidding. The intensity of denial and the frustrations of the inconsiderate need for amendment bears no reason for disagreement. The reality of a people like the people of Ethiope is now of expectations – hope that their critical political situation that begs for urgent significant solution hinged on proven track record of excellent human capacity and communal productivity must be directly heeded.

Now, can we completely trust the sense of equity of the calculative philosophical and elective internal party system to comply with the yearnings of the people to deliver their expectation of a firm and proficient leader? Yes!

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the most dominant party whose dictates the people of Ethiope has trusted and unanimously agreed to heed, must do the needful, for the greater good, by honouring the people’s request to be represented by Hon. Ben Rolland Igbakpa.

Should the people trust the adequacy of the present representative to guarantee admirable legislative influence that strongly advocates for the welfare of the people? No!

For the people of Ethiope who above many things, have sound minds, they know that nothing done with trusted opportunity is a snatched opportunity that should not be repeated within the same framework. The present reality is a grim one. It speaks for itself. You cannot give what you do not have. If the present member representing the federal constituency of Ethiope is incapable of doing for the people what they desire to be done, it is only realistically compelling that he makes way for the one proven and trusted to make the aspirations of the people a reality.

If the commitment to the guidelines of social intersubjectivity is not enough to identify the applicable strength and request of the people, then there stands the risk of losing the central purpose of improving the lives of the people through professional and people-oriented leadership.

When most of the people of Ethiope objectively think together to ensure that their voices and thoughts are always relevant to the decisions of the National Assembly, they only resolve that the best possible conclusive solution is to support the candidacy of Hon. Ben Rolland Igbakpa.
