Explorers:
This may be the best-known shipwreck in Namibia, if not in the world.

That’s mainly because of where it is located the Edouard Bohlen appears to be grounded in mid-desert, about 500 meters (1640 feet) from the ocean.

The German cargo ship ran aground on its way to Cape Town from Swakopmund in 1909.

Years later, the coastline changed and the desert began to encroach on the ocean.

The ship was a 2,272 gross ton cargo ship with a length of 310 feet.

That blend of the ship wreck and the desert sands look amazingly picturesque.
