One of the two missing police officers in Benue state has been found dead with his body severely mutilated. In a statement obtained by PoliticsNGR from the Benue state command, the officers eyes, ears and nose were missing from his body.

It will be recalled that four policemen were declared missing after suspected killer herdsmen Azege-Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government area of the state last Saturday night.

Two of the police officers were rescued alive on Sunday, while two were still no where to be found. With the latest development, only one police officer remains missing. Below is the full statement from the Benue police command released earlier today;

"The Command regrets to announce the death of one of its NCO, who was one of the two (2) remaining missing Policemen in the attack of 10/2/2018.

He was found brutally slaughtered, with both eyes and ears as well as nose removed. We pray that God Almighty grants him eternal rest.

However, the Police remain committed to its statutory and daunting obligation of ensuring security as well as protection of life and property of all, please."
