Do you live/work in major parts of the Abuja Metropolis?

Then there’s good news for you!!!

As part of the government’s efforts to revamp our electric power supply, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has expanded its capacity to transmit the entire 7,000MW of electricity generation capacity of Nigerian Gencos.

Today, The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, commissioned two 100MVA and 132/33kv Transformers in Katampe and Apo areas of FCT respectively. These have increased electricity capacity to 220MVA and 290MWA respectively.

You would ask, “So how does this affect me as an Abuja resident?”

Simple! Do you live or work in the following areas: Gwarimpa, Life Camp, Jabi, Kado, Jahi, Wuye, Maitama, Mpape, Katampe I and II, Mabushi, Garki, Gudu, Guzape, Asokoro, Apo Resettlement, Wumba, Apo Mechanic Village or parts of Lugbe and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport?

If yes, the results of the above project means you will begin to experience improved power supply.

And the TCN aren’t stopping there. The TCN, in conjunction with the Nigerian Electricity Transmission Project and the World Bank, are set to also upgrade the capacity of the 132/33kV substation in Central Area.

This means more light in more parts of Abuja!!!

There’s more.

TCN is implementing the Abuja Transmission Scheme (ATS). Through the scheme, five new substations and 3 transmission lines will be constructed.

The transmission lines will involve the third 330Kv transmission line into Abuja, a 330kV line that cuts through Abuja to Shiroro (Niger state) and another 330kv line that cuts through Abuja to Ajaokuta.

Out of the five substations, two of the new 300/132/33kv substations will be sited at the West Main (Lugbe) and New Apo. The three other 132/33kv substations will be sited at Lokogoma, Kuje and Gwarimpa.

The Federal Government is also collaborating with Japan to install Capacitor Banks worth over $10 million at Apo and Keffi substations to improve the quality of power supply.

This collaboration will also extend towards rehabilitation of Apapa, Akangba, Isolo and Ikeja West Substations in Lagos.

Change has Come!!!

The eediots should put all these in states with little or no supply instead of making Abuja over lighted.

Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame! So you people can't cover a small FCT at the same time? You have to fragment it, and you see that as an achievement. Why can't Nigeria for goodness' sake embark on ambitious projects as it happens in other countries? We keep on celebrating pipeborne water commissioning, changing of transformers and the likes. Talk about mediocrity.

Can the zoo ever get anything right?
I thought Dumbohari promised 100% power supply?
And the other numbskull called Fashola claimed steady electricity is 'not rocket science' just to swindle the zombies off their vote during campaign.

They grabbed and he was given the job, today he is lamenting that the job is tougher than nuclear physics and space science put together. His arms are up in air as he surrenders and cries that the only training he has is that of a lawyer not an Engineer.

The only time I've ever 24 hours light was when Engr. Barth Nnaji was minister of power during Gej's presidency. During 2015 campaign APC kept sponsoring attacks on transmission lines and substations just to destroy GEJ government, incite masses and grab power. They are reaping what they sowed.

What is the meaning of this propaganda now?

Does the TCN supply light directly to homes?

Is it not Abuja Electricity Distribution Company that is responsible for supplying these places with lights?

Can TCN just increase electricity supply to consumers by merely installing transformers?

TCN does not even generate 0.00001 wattage of electricity for heaven's sake.

Why is the propaganda made to appear like TCN's installed transformers will take care of distribution in these areas?

What happens to addressing the issue of incessant total system collapse?.

Most of these places, being asked to start dancing now, used to have fairly stable electricity even with 220MVA capacity.

By the time the AEDC takes the current and distribute as it fits "these people" would tell us how their function is limited to TRANSMISSION.
