INEC is supposed to be independent and neutral. Should they have a problem or opinion about the sequence of elections as law enacted by the national assembly? Will any sequence whatsoever affect its efficiency?

I wonder what grounds they would base their challenge in the courts on or is it to just tie down the matter in the courts?

OBJ changed the order of election and got us all into this mess.

You are a wise man that has a very great historical knowledge of events in this country. That was the OBJ's game plan in 2003 to win over most states for PDP. He absolutely almost robbed the whole south-west off except for Lagos state. It was a grand master plan by him and no one challenged him back then. Obj had all the omini-factors within his power to have turned Nigeria into a better country. The opposition and level of god-fatherism then was very infinitesimal. He was the origin of most of the problems this country is going through. He is the reason for this inflated allowances and salaries of the national house of assembly members and so on. He had too many selfish motives more than the ones for the country as a whole. He should just join the retirees group and be receiving his pension as well.

Section 76(1) of the Constitution provides that “elections to each House of the National Assembly shall be held on a date to be appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission”.

Section 132(1) of the Constitution further states: “An election to the office of the president shall be held on a date to be appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission,” while Section 178(1) provides that “an election to the office of governor of a state shall be held on a date to be appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission”.The constitution is greater than the electoral Act,Same way wike got supreme court judgement when they rule that cardreader was alien to the constitution that the voters register superceed the cardreader.

These lawmakers are clowns, why not put the national Assembly election last.National Assembly cannot do inec job.where is the independence of inec

The NASS is not choosing dates for the INEC. It has only worked on the Electoral Act and amended the sequence of elections which it has the constitutional power to do. INEC is bound to follow the Electoral Act whilst exercising its independent powers and duties.

Why does a high performing president need a timetable to make him look strong and win election?

Fools everywhere. This useless newspaper was forced to return the illegal money it collected from Jonathan, so I am not surprise by it's meaningless assumption. During Goatluck period, it was DG of SSS that determined when and how elections were held. The DG of SSS whom Buhari has now put in permanent detention went to London to say that elections would not hold as scheduled by INEC so that Goatluck would have more time to share money and bribe more people including CAN, OPC, traditional rulers, even Nigeria Witches Association got its own share of the national cake. We all know how the story ended. National Assembly was mute then.

if actually goodluck did this wouldn't he have entered as the president? if he was power drunk like ur labeling him now would he concede defeat after many proofs of him been cheated
was in jos during the 2015 election. areas that are major Jonathan supported no election materials were carried there same with some towns in nassarawa, under age voting in the north yet the man just decide to be quiet (what buhari cant take)look, the high time you stop being sentimental the better for you tbh

Funny how the press tries to instill bias in a reader's mind even before they get to read an article.

First, it was INEC that proposed a sequence because it is their duty to do so. Members of the National Assembly saw that the proposed sequence wasn't gonna favour them, they therefore amended it in such a manner as to favour them.

When they did this, it was neither a PLOT, an execution of a GRAND PLAN, or an ABORTION of the initial proposal. But now, the presidency IN THE SAME VAIN, makes plans to alter the sequence in such a manner as to favour them and suddenly their moves are being described with all these negative adverbs.

Every party involved would do as they believe would favour them, as long as no law is being broken in the process. No need being overly sentimental about it.
Oga, "same vein".

I thought you guys have been boasting of Buhari's popularity and clout. How come he is afraid of his shadows now and making a futile effort to manipulate the electoral process to parachute himself into an undeserved second term?

Oh because Buhari is popular he should fold his hands and watch Dino melaya ApC senator but PDP by soul that knows that Yahaya bellows will stop him in 2019,Shehu Sani APC senator but knows that El-rufai will show him the way out soon and their committee members change the rules of the game in the middle of the game.

Nobody change the rules of the game when the game is already on.
Obasanjo of PDP change it to this present format in 2003 and we will continue with it till further notice.

so where you at all the polling units in the north to know who the underage voters voted for?

PDP used underage voters.
APC used underage voters.

Cultists and thugs were killing people and snatching ballot boxes up and down to thumb print for their party in the south.

The rigging cancelled each other out.

Buhari will win in 2019 with a wider margin than in 2015.
