Have you noticed that a lot of us have really missed what true Holiness is. We seem to think that Holiness is just about going to Church, dressing like Nuns (For the women), putting on suits as long as it makes us look holy, loving only those we choose to love, praying 'die by fire' ....

I have observed that most Christians who think this way are the ones with strong heart, they lack love. They will never show love to anyone as long as you are not a member of their church, they think everyone who's not a member is possessed, so they treat them as such. They find it hard to forgive, smile and be kind to people. When they see others behave improper or not well dressed (especially ladies who are not decently dressed), they rather insult and place curses on them, instead of correcting with love. They have automatically turned their church into a cult.

The Bible describes such people as hypocrites. Their way seem right to them, but it leads to destruction. We are Christians because, while we were still sinners, while we were still in rebellion against God, He sent His only begotten Son to come in human form, so He will suffer for our sins and our sins will be forgiven. The blessings we do not deserve have been given to us because of His sacrifice. Now, this is Mercy and Grace combined. This is a demonstration of love. This kind of love even surpasses human understanding.

He didn't stop there, He also gave us His Spirit and made us His Sons and Daughters. The scripture says, God is love and He lives in us, that means our lives should radiate love all the time no matter the condition. We are to live like Jesus who demonstrated unconditional love to us.

Remember we are made Holy because the Holy Spirit lives in us, which means to live in other to preserve this Holiness, the fruit of the Holy Spirit should manifest in our lives and not the character of hypocrisy. The Holy Spirit manifest the Character of Jesus Christ in us. True Holiness is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, which is ; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control.

You are not living a holy life if you lack the fruits of the Spirit, because that's holiness. Let's check our lives and correct these mistakes. Do not forget that Love is the greatest and when we love, the fruits of the Spirit will manifest in full. In fact, when we truly love, we will detest sin and won't cause others to sin. God is love. Today, I choose to love everyone including my enemies and even pray for them.

God help us all. Below are some scriptures to back up my message.

1 Corinthians 13:13
Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love.

Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Galatians 5 :22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

1 John 4 :8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Matthew 22:37-40, Matthew 5:44, 1 John 4:7, John 15:12, Romans 14:17, Romans 5:8, Romans 13:8-10, 1 John 3:18, 1 John 4:8, 1 John 4:18-19...

COMPLICATING THE LOVE OF JESUS

There comes a point, unfortunately, in the Christian journey when many start to feel bored, unfulfilled and dissatisfied with the unglamorous task of loving others.
It’s very hard work to follow Jesus. It requires sacrifice, humility, service, patience, forgiveness and lots of love. It can be tempting—and much easier—to focus on specific parts of the Bible that don’t require as much endurance, are more flashy, will draw more attention and will instill a greater sense of excitement.
So some of us create a “Christian” platform that becomes our passion. A political agenda, social cause, moral practice or specific theological belief can become central to our faith—overtaking Jesus’ command to love others as yourself. Thus, we get people who will practically fight to the death over things such as Calvinism, tithing, infant baptism and various other causes and doctrines. In and of themselves these things aren’t necessarily bad—everyone has their own convictions about theological issues—but when things are prioritized above Christ’s love, it leads to idolization.

Take away, Love of neighbour surpasses any doctrinal passion.

Happy sunday all

I think we lack understanding what being a follower of Jesus means. Let's hear what Jesus himself says
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
So you are right, love is missing in the church of Christ
