South African President Jacob Zuma resigns after been under intense pressure and several allegations from his own party ANC.

The 4th President of South Africa Jacob Zuma resigns from the highest office of the nation with immediate effect after being under a lot of pressure from his own party this he said in a televised statement.

The embattled President has been facing several allegations of corruption since he got into power in 2009.

His resignation allows Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa takeover the Presidency and be the party’s new leader.

The ANC (African National Congress) issued a warning to him to face a vote of no confidence in parliament in case he decides not to resign.

Jacob Zuma who was in a cheerful mood before his speech started on that note beginning with thanks and appreciation to those who had worked with him and highlighted that violence and division within the ANC forced his resignation decision.
