Urhobs are Edo. And yes there are some Igbo who are also Edo, eg: Anioma. WrathOfHadez: 1 Like |

GUMY: What's my business with the title of your Bini King? The Oba can bear any title he wants to. That's his business. That all "Edoids", not Edo, are your brothers doesn't make them an extension of your ethnic group or your kingdom. Limit yourself appropriately. Urhobos are not Edos! Urhobos are not Binis! Urhobos speak an EDOID language, the same language family that Bini, Esan, Owan, Ora, etc, derive from. No one group has the language and it is not an ethnic indicator. 1 Like |

I don't know which university you went to, I guess when you gave the wrong answer to your professor and he corrected you, you also started insulting his mother. You are brain damaged man. And I don't hold it against your mother. In fact both our mothers are not only sisters but they are the prides of humanity. WrathOfHadez: |

As I already stated, you are not being factual. You see this as a hegemony battle and you would say any lie to not lose. As you may or may not know, Oba of Benin is a mix of English and Edo words. The real title has no english in it. For your information, the title of the Oba of Benin is: Omo n'Oba n'Edo. And once again: Edoid and Edo are the same thing ! The Oba of Benin is the king of the Benin Kingdom. The Benin Kingdom is not the same thing as Benin City. Benin City is only the capital of the Kingdom. Bini only refers to Edo living in Benin City, just like parisien refers to french living in paris. You are in the desert and you have no compass. fratermathy: 1 Like 1 Share |

I am really wondering if facts actually matter to you. Let me inform you that it is yoruba who keep claiming Edo to be yoruba, not the other way around. How did you manage to miss the palace of Omo n'Oba n'Edo telling the alake of egbaland that we are not yoruba ? Were you living in a cave ? Could you talk some sense, please. WrathOfHadez: |

GUMY: I won't keep running around circles with a deluded infant. Bini is just one of the ethnic groups speaking an Edoid language. Whatever your King calls himself is his own palaver. My king may as well title himself as the Ovie r'Nigeria. That doesn't ascribe to him any hegemonic hold over Nigerians. Don't mention me on this issue again. My point has been made. Feel free to keep deluding yourself in Benin City or whichever European city you've crossed the Sahara desert to get to. Some persons really need to teleport themselves from the 18th century to the present. Such a shame. 2 Likes |

@wrathofhadez I don't recall claiming that yoruba are "from Benin", so what you are talking about is a mystery to me. Also, I really don't understand this argument about numbers. What I would actually claim is that almost all of what is now called yorubaland was part of the Benin Empire/Kingdom. And that is backed by historical records. I will have you reminded that rome has a population of around 3 million, yet these are some of the countries which composed its empire: Italy, England, France, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Carthage, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Parts of germany ... Notice they speak numerous languages by the way. 1 Like 1 Share |
