Gunmen kidnap Ezeife’s wife

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Wednesday evening abducted Onyedi Ezeife, one of the wives of first civilian governor of Anambra, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

The hoodlums who operated in two utility vehicles (SUV) arrived Nkwo market, Igbo Ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra and kidnapped Onyedi where she was buying foodstuffs from the market. According to eye witness, the gunmen shot sporadically and scare members of the public, before abducting Mrs. Ezeife, and forced her into the back of one of their jeeps and zoomed off.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka (ASP) also confirmed the incident said the gunmen who operated from Imo State equally killed about four policemen in various places in Anambra state, adding that the police are working round the clock to track down the suspects.

Also, the state deputy commissioner of police, Mr. Oshodi Glover confirmed the incident and identified the suspects as the gang that killed two soldiers and some policemen in Imo State early yesterday, before crossing over to Anambra State.

When contacted, former governor Ezeife told Daily Sun in a telephone chat that the kidnappers were yet to establish contact with either himself or any member of the Ezeife family as at the time of filing this report yesterday evening. He however noted that the people were ignorant of the fact that himself and any member of the Ezeife family had no money to pay for any ransom they might demand,

According to him “do they think I have money to pay for any ransom, I pray they will release her without harm. They should know I don’t have money for any ransom
