The truth is that once a regional leader gets involved in the government at the center, they tend to betray their people. Azikiwe did it, Gowon did it. Tinubu is doing it. if Awolowo had that kind of opportunity, he would have done it too. It's only when they are at the regional level that it sees that they're fighting for their people. That's just how they function.

Your statement somehow seems to be only applicable to we middlebelters & southerners.
Most Hausa- fulani and core northern leaders do not care about others whether they are in the center or not. They do not hide their preferences to their people, just as you can see Buhari doing now.

Of course that is because they hold the political power. On the contrary, the middle belt and South are just slaves to the north.

Most of our people are just too cheap and lillly-livered. We love political correctness too much.

See the way South-east governors completely handed over Nnamdi Kanu to the FG to deal with.

If it was the core-north, I bet you, they won't. They would use him as a tool to blackmail and sabotage the effects of the central govt.

Some will say, but Nnamdi Kanu was against the south-east governors as well, why should they support him?

Boko haram murder thousands of northerners, yet, see the way many northern leaders including Buhari came to their defence during GEJ's tenure, claiming that an attack on BH is an attack on the north.

Core-northerners are just masters when it comes to ethno-religious politics. You gotta give it to them. They don't mind playing politics with the lives of their people.
I know it is wrong, but this is what keeps them in power.
