A woman who was mistakenly buried alive struggled to get out of the grave for eleven days before she eventually died.
Relatives of Rosangela Almeida dos Santos, 37, say she tried to fight her way out of her casket which was nailed shut and buried in Brazil.
Video shows the moment relatives prised the casket open at the cemetery in Riachao das Neves, northeast Brazil, only to find her corpse inside.
It was reported that people living near the cemetery told her family she'd been buried alive after hearing noises from inside the tomb.
Her corpse had injuries to her hands and forehead where she had tried to fight her way out, and there was blood inside the casket, it was reported.
Relatives initially thought she had passed away from "septic shock" following two cardiac arrests. Her funeral was held and she was buried on January 28.
But locals reported hearing her screams to family 11 days later on February 9.
Local resident Natalina Silva told Brazil's G1 website: "When I got there right in front of the tomb, I heard banging from inside it.
"I thought the kids who play around the cemetery were playing a joke on me. Then I heard her groan twice, and after those two groans she stopped.
"She had tried to open the lid, even the nails that had been hammered in were loose. Her hands were injured, like she had been trying to get out."
Ana Francisco Dias told Brazil's Globo TV: "There were than 500 people who came here and packed the cemetery, everybody went to see, lots of people touched her foot and everybody saw that she was still warm. She wasn't cold."
Cops have now launched an investigation into the case after Ms Santos' family members filed an official complaint.
Police chief Arnaldo Monte said: "We have today started to take statements from family members and other people.
"If need be we will exhume Ms Santos’ body again so we can get to the bottom of what really happened."
