We are aware that there is no excuse before the law, but where will these guys read the news about their restriction on the street?

Perhaps, Mr. Governor should know that they are better than PICK - POCKETS and the likes. Sending them to Jail is like Killing a baby not yet born. A good government will think about how to TRAIN / EMPOWER its people who are struggling to make Living, not forcefully stopping them while at work and jailing them for non compliance.

We appeal to the Governor to please help the helpless and bring SANITY into our dirty STREETS.

Am not against Ambode enforcing his environmental laws, but jailing cart pushers who are just trying to eke out a living isn't fair.

His Government should enroll them in skill acquisition centres for training to acquire a decent skill and give them startup capital after the are through with their training rather than jail 'em.

Nigerian jails don't rehabilitate you, it destroys you
That's one of the reasons why lagos is very dirty lately..Those guys play a role in keeping lagos clean.

Please, please and please, tender justice with mercy for God's sake. D job itself is demeaning, and they got engaged in it cos there was no alternative. To get that 20k is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle. God will have mercy on you too in Jesus mighty name. None of your generations will be involved in cart pushing as a means of livelihood in Jesus mighty name. Amen. You can then enrol them in any skill acquisition centre.
Good move also the police should close in on these guys they engage in all forms of criminal activities they go under the guise of pushing their carts around take advantage at any slightest given opportunity to vandalise cars and burgle homes they notice are empty they study your pattern of movement be careful when you see these guys in your neigbourhood they commit the crime and go into their refuse dump to hide perfect place to cool off who wants to go to a refuse dump to look for a criminal, likes of godogodo the great criminal started like this .Most dump sites are filled with heinous crimes and criminals

you will know how deeply wicked these guys are when you have a horrible one on one encounter with them in a lonely place .Most of these guys are hardened criminals they use this truck pushing to map out their targets ,stop these guys from coming or moving around your neigbourhood and you will be shocked how petty and major crimes would reduce

@Seun,

I will pay the fine for 3 of them.

Can NL pay the balance?

If these young men go to jail all because of their quest for the legitimate "hustle", it will be pretty sad!

Those who ought to be in jail are living in glass houses and basking effortlessly in their loots.

Do we have lawyers who can challenge the State on this law? The State should absorb them through their Union(s) ahead of proscription.

My 2 cents!

Grow up guys, they are just cart pushers....grin

lemme wear my bullet proof before they come for me grin

Wear it well oh.

Just cart pushers. Aren't they human beings? They chose to work with thier hands instead of stealing from you. I agree they broke the law but jail isn't the best option. Community service would be better.
Re: 13 Cart Pushers Jailed In Lagos (Photo) by arrestdarrester: 6:46pm On Feb 21, 2018
Whatever happened to community service?

Our lawmakers should know how to make laws in this age nowwww. These guys didn't steal or commit murder, they struggled to keep body and soul together, and they are now being sentenced to go and learn theft and killing from hardened criminals in prison?

This one weak me sha...

The government contractors, if they work at all, you see them once a month instead of four tines a month, yet they force you to pay for weeks they did not work. Why should government use their private contractors to steal from the poor masses. Lagos government, there is no friend, brother and family in business, you pay them monthly for jobs not done and yet you are complaining of filth in Lagos.

The law is not a shield, it's a sword killing, taking away freedom, property, redistributing wealth, etc

Never follow it blindly.

From frying pan to fire, from no good job to prison. Trouble multiple by 2 or double tragedy or double wahala. They can't provide free education, they can't provide works for their citizens, and they are casting them into prison and even taking money from jobless people in form of bails and co. They mismanaged the resources of the country and are forcing many of the citizens to to Libya to travel to Europe because of joblessness and the little the poor man could do to survive, they are arresting them. It's a hopeless situation and a hopeless country and hopeless leaders of hopeless people and generation. They will surely be forcing many of their citizens into crime
