The Chief Ralph Uwazuruike-led Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, otherwise called Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, has kicked off her national football league competition aimed at fishing out talents to represent Biafra at the Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, level.

Consequently, the league commenced in all Biafran land a fortnight ago at the People’s Club of Nigeria Field, along Onitsha/Owerri road, Onitsha, Anambra state.The Anambra South zone defeated Anambra Central by a lone goal scored by KenechiOnuorah.
Reacting to the kick-off, the personal assistant to Chief Uwazuruikeand leader of Anambra Central zone, Comrade Emmanuel Omenka said, “the final will be played in Owerri, Imo state capital, on May 8, 2018 and the winner of the trophy will smile home with the sum of money yet to be disclosed”

He said, “Anambra Central and North met two weeks ago and Anambra North Vs South will meet next. There are matches in Imo, Rivers, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Enugu, Delta, among the 10 Biafran states where all the matches will hold simultaneously throughout Biafra land” he disclosed.

“Some people said we are organising this competition when we have not actualised a Biafran state; it is part of it that we are doing.We don’t use arms in doing this and whoever that plays well can come and join.

In Biafra, if you are a good player we take you and at the end of the match we know the talents we are going to submit to FIFA as our national team to compete in line with other qualified nations because we are not Nigerians” he added further.

Also speaking, the Anambra Central zonal director of sports, Tochukwu Godson Umeh, expressed satisfaction that the league would lead to Biafra state emerging victorious by the time it will be listed as FIFA member.
