The leadership of the Northern Nigeria seem to have lost its potential of both traditional and political direction in the face of daunting insecurity in the region.
Once upon a time when the Sourh-East was engulfed with agitation of self determination, and the elders and leadership stood up to the challenges and bring the situation under control.
Also, the South-west and South-South uprising were brought to a stop. But the insurgency called boko Haram has refused to be brought under control due to the failure of the traditional institutions to instil moral control over the Young ones in their region.
I am only perturbed over the continuous kidnapping, killing, maiming and armed robbery being perpetrated in the Northern region.

Sanctity of life happens not to be in their moral dictionary. Over the years violence has been used as a tool for blackmail. The unending violence is only the case of the chicken coming home to roost. It is a difficult problem to solve because the origin is rooted in culture and mindset. Not even with presidency staying with them in the next 100 years. So far they have had it for the better part of 50 years and nothing to show for it.

you are very correct. The truth is that all the average norther leader ever needs is an army to use for their conquest plans, they don't have the interest of their younger generation at heart. Misinterpretation of religion and lack of education also plays a terrible role in this, this has been used to bind the youths and keep them in perpetual mental slavery. The average northern youth is almost unproductive and noncompetitive. Where there is no education, there ought to be some kind of vocational training. This is equally missing, what you find is idle youths who are ever willing tools and youths who are only good for menial labour. The entire Nigeria is feeling the burden of the unproductive north.
